ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Coming in August
On Monday, August 26th at 6:30 PM TWOQC will host an Ice Cream Social. The entertainment will be a Tablescape Competition. Individuals or teams of no more than six members will decide on a theme and the sky is the limit. The Quail Creek banquet staff will judge the contestants for at least three prizes. Designing Tablescapes is fun and a great way to tease your creativity. We canât wait to see your âworks of artâ.
The Entry Form will start the ball rolling. Any questions?? Call Kathe Alves (360) 701-4782 or e-mail: programs@womenqc.com.
MEMBERS CORNER
WELCOME: Peggy Coleman, Eva Cry, Leslie Fellner, Carolyn Fisher, Penny Henry, Michelle Medley, Judy Rooney, Marty Sage, and Cathy Swanson – all who have recently joined TWOQC. We are happy you have joined the fun.
Party Time!Â
Have you joined TWOQC in the last 3 years (2016) and never attended a New Member Party? Check your calendar for availability on Thursday, June 13 from 1:00-2:30 and join us if you can. Respond by Monday, June 10 to membership@womenqc.com if you can attend this enjoyable gathering of women. We need an accurate count of partiers to plan appropriately.
Can You Help?Â
Do you have a warm smile and enjoy meeting new people? We need your help prior to the June 24 luncheon to greet our members as you give them their name tag, sign-in guests at the guest book, and assist with a survey that weâll be conducting that day. We also need ladies to help re-file name tags at the end of the luncheon for about 10 minutes. Long-time members, medium-time members and new-time members are encouraged to share the gift of your smile and volunteer to be a TWOQC Greeter. If you can help, contact membership@womenqc.com.
Member Spotlight: Anne Smith
Anne grew up in southern Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton with a degree in Interior Design and worked at a design firm in Dallas where she met her husband, Bob. The couple moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and lived there for 30 years. Anne continued to work for a custom home builder while Bob worked for Verizon Business. They have two sons, Bob Jr. and Greg. PHOTO: ANNE & BOB
The couple began bicycling, mostly riding on a tandem bicycle which they rode through every state across the United States, plus more than a dozen foreign countries. Anne and Bob started a bicycle club in Colorado Springs which just celebrated its 33rd anniversary. In addition to bicycling, Anne and Bob love contemporary art. Through the years, they have purchased many art pieces for their collection.
In 2008, they bought a small winter home in Tucson where they fell in love with the desert with its many biking opportunities. Three-years ago they sold their Colorado Springs and Tucson homes to move to Quail Creek.
A proud moment came in 2018 when Anne and her friend Karen Johnson co-chaired TWOQCâs Homeless Veteran Clothing Drive. That event produced a record number of donations.
KLATCHES WITH PAT
Meeting members and hearing their stories has been a highlight for me. The gatherings began with members of longstanding, ten-years or more. I wanted to highlight our 15th anniversary. The klatches have grown to include a variety of years of membership. On May 31st our group included a ten-year member and one who joined TWOQC in March.
During our conversations, we talk about TWOQC and how it has evolved over the years. I want to know what the organization means to you? What should we consider for future activities? What should we change? Primarily it is an opportunity to know klatch goers on a more personal basis. During the last coffee, we heard that two of our charitable causes (YOTO and collecting toiletries for the VA) had reached the workplace of a member. She learned about them through TWOQC and suggested that her company support them as well. What a wonderful community connection. Also, we learned that an attendee hiked the Camino de Santiago recently, a huge accomplishment. Another lady plans on creating a special tablescape for the August competition. A âgolden nuggetâ of an idea was shared. It was suggested that we create a mentorship program for new members. This will ensure their solid start in TWOQC.
Without a doubt I can say I treasure my coffee klatch time. Getting to know you is so important. I am amazed by the talents and the range of experiences that you bring to our organization. It is unbelievable!
Please contact me (Pat) at (520) 625-4476 if you would like to have fun conversation over a cup of coffee or glass of wine.
