Additional opportunities to donate:
We think we have a sufficient number of drivers to take things to the VA on October 17. However, we would like to start a stand-by list in case we greatly exceed the number of donations we got last year. Please contact Laura Colbert at 625-4033 if you can be available at the last minute should we need more vehicles.
There will be a short meeting of all those who volunteered to help at the clothing drive to go over specific duties and answer any questions. The meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13th on the Madera Clubhouse patio.
Furniture for Homeless Veterans
Anyone who has any furniture she’d liked to donate for formerly homeless veterans as they move into an apartment may call Daron Cross at 429-6867 to arrange for pick-up. Because the apartments are relatively small, they cannot accept king-size beds, triple dressers or large couches.
Blind Veterans Need Some Help
The VA Hospital blind veterans’ rehabilitation program is asking for new wooden clip clothespins. They also need new plain white crew neck T-Shirts in men’s sizes L, XL, 2X, and 3X and ladies in sizes M and L for crafts projects. If you are able to help, please bring donations to the clothing drive on October 15 (please mark them for Blind Veterans).
