Continued from Friday Morning Message (Feb. 1, 2019):
There is hope. WFSA’s solution is to provide grants that cover both tuition and daycare for education in training programs that will provide a livable income and create financial independence.
As explained by Krista, the relationship between financial independence and access to affordable childcare is a key factor. The average cost of center-based daycare for a toddler is $836 a month, typically more than rent. Research shows that 33,000 mothers in the Arizona labor force could find immediate benefit from grants supporting training and coupled with childcare.
Krista’s presentation was well received and followed by a thoughtful and pertinent exchange of questions and answers.
