∴ DIANE’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴
February is the month of love! ♥ It reminds us that we should appreciate our loved ones, our friends and neighbors, and those others around us.
For The Women of Quail Creek, I love that we have many activities for the members to experience. The first Member Program of the new year, The Earp Women, is on February 20th. There are new In-My-Kitchen and On-The-Go small groups. Plans are being made for the Members Luncheon in March. A Fashion Show is on the agenda later this spring. A summer reading program book drive and a project to help Seniors are in the planning stages. I love that the Scholarship Committee is receiving applications and will be interviewing and awarding several scholarships to women graduating from high school and to women over 21 (Women in Transition) going back to school to better their lives.
As a 501(c)(3) AZ Nonprofit Corporation, we are revising our financial reporting system. We now need a member volunteer to act as a bookkeeper to assist our treasurer. This gives us the necessary oversight of the finances.
I love this organization! ♥
TWOQC APPRECIATES VETERANS JOINING THE APRIL 23-25 HONOR FLIGHT
We are pleased to announce that Honor Flight Southern Arizona (HFSAZ) will sponsor up to 70 military veterans on a round trip flight to Washington D.C. on April 23-25. During this trip, the veterans will tour the National veteran memorials in the greater Washington D.C area and be honored for their service.
This is a special opportunity for our members, our Quail Creek community and the general local public to express appreciation to the veterans participating in the April 23-25 flight for their service to their country. You can make a difference for these veterans by writing each of them a letter or a note, or as many you have time to write. You may choose to write the same message to each veteran, or write a personalized message. If you are unsure what to write, you are welcome to use any of these examples or modify them as you wish.
Place each letter or note in an unsealed envelope. Bundle your letters or notes with rubber bands, ribbons or other ties. Drop your bundled notes or letters in the collection box at 2719 E. Sawyer Road, Green Valley (Quail Creek) by Saturday, April 1.
Questions? Contact TWOQC’s liaison at HonorFlight@womenqc.com.
SUPPLY DRIVE FOR SENIORS IN NEED
In March TWOQC’s Community Outreach Committee will be hosting a supply drive for low-income seniors living at Michelle Manor Apartments in Green Valley. This is subsidized housing and the seniors are regularly in need of a variety of items ranging from paper and laundry products to personal hygiene items. Here’s a list of needed supplies.
Watch for upcoming GroupWorks posts (members) and updates for all here on our website for dates of the Supply Drive and drop-off locations. Contact Peggy McGee (community@womenqc.com) if you have any questions.
The committee has reached out to three resident widows this year. Their What To Do documents after the loss of a loved one were well received and much appreciated. If you know of a woman in our community who has recently lost a spouse or life partner, please contact our Committee Chair at twoqcyana@womenqc.com or by phone at (520) 399-4322.
∴ PROGRAMS & EVENTS ∴ Reservations generally open two weeks prior to each event. Photos may be available for post-events. Handouts/Recipes are accessible to members-only in GroupWorks (link→ in the ABOUT tab). | Guest Policy | Contact programs@womenqc.com with your program and event questions.
