Are You Ready to Learn About Spiralizing?
Join us at the August program where Randy Wade (owner, Tumacookery) will be doing a cooking demonstration and tasting, also offering his tips, tricks and taboos of spiralizing. This method of turning vegetables and fruits into noodles allows cooks of all skill levels to whip up creative, healthy, and delicious meals. Spiralizing offers great flavor without the processed ingredients. Mark your calendar so you don’t miss out! (TWOQC programs are offered to club members and first-time attendees only.)
Give a big thank you to Yellow Brick Coffee this weekend!
When attending the Artisan and Farmer’s Market this Sunday afternoon, look for Anna and David Perreira of Yellow Brick Coffee. Anna was the presenter for our July program and she shared their wonderful coffee. She will be back this Sunday at the market so stop by for samples, to make a purchase, or just to say ‘hi’ and thank her for presenting to TWOQC.
Honor Flight
Please write a note or letter to the 25 WWII and Korean War Veterans (one served in WWII, Korean War and Vietnam) for Mail Call on their Honor Flight back from Washington DC telling them that what they did all those years ago was appreciated. Let them know that the sacrifices they made – being away from loved ones and friends in an often hostile environment, risking their lives every day, and facing all the other realities of wartime – were acknowledged and appreciated.
The names of the veterans are attached (in this LINK). Place the letters in an envelope (do not seal) with the vet’s name plus initial of last name and deposit in the container outside Kay Robinson’s home, 898 N. Kenneth Drive by August 29 or bring to TWOQC program.
Reading Glasses Needed for Hospitalized Veterans
The VA has a need for reading glasses.
If anyone has any that are not being used, they may be dropped off at Peggy’s house at 1908 E Longspur Place or brought to our program on August 29.
Coupons for the National Guard
Coupons for the National Guard should expire September 18 or later. Coupons destined for overseas should expire July 1 or later. Coupons may be turned in at the program on August 29 or dropped off at Judy Poffenbarger’s (2390 E Bluejay Bluff Lane) or Peggy Richmond’s (2731 E. Eba Court) at any time. Both have a box by their front doors. [PREPPING COUPONS]
Donations for Veterans
If you are starting to get more 2017 calendars in the mail than you can possibly use, rather than throw them in the trash or recycle bin, please save them for the hospitalized veterans. Those being hospitalized long term and those living in the nursing home facility really appreciate getting them. Both wall and pocket calendars as well as greeting/note cards are needed. Please bring them to the program on August 29 and place them any unopened travel sized toiletries on the table in the back of the ballroom.
Fashion Show
We are looking for some cupcake stands for the Fashion Show on February 24.
If anyone has any they can lend us at that time, please let Carol Shelton know at tubaccarol@aol.com.
