Friday Morning Message

Posted on September 8, 2017 by The Women of Quail Creek

FMM header, Carol Mutter, president, working together in our community, make a difference

This week’s Friday Morning Message:  TWOQC Volunteer Opportunities | October Membership Brunch | YOTO-Diverse Needs | Oktoberfest Gala Tickets & Pilsner Glasses Pre-Orders | Lecture Series: Navajo Rugs | Save the Date: Clothing Drive | Honor Flight | August Program Thank-You | Upcoming Events

TWOQC VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet new friends!

♥ TWOQC has an opportunity for someone who would like to serve for the year 2018 on the board as 2nd VP/Membership. You would not be alone. There are many members that enjoy helping to greet and assist with membership. To learn more about this opportunity contact Carol at president@womenqc.com.

♥ We need two volunteers to take orders for TWOQC t-shirts and visors at the table at our monthly programs. Please contact Carol at president@womenqc.com for more information.

♥ Volunteers are needed for the VA Clothing Drive, Saturday, October 21 for about 3 hours. You will be helping to sort, inventory and pack donated clothing, household items, kitchen, accessories, shoes, toiletries, calendars, pet items and more. For more information contact Laura at clothingdrive@womenqc.com.

OCTOBER MEMBERSHIP BRUNCH

There are still seats available for the October Membership Brunch. As of Friday morning the following seats are open and ready for purchase: table #1 (10 seats), table #2 (2 seats), table #6 (2 seats), table #11 (5 seats), table #15 (10 seats), table #16 (10 seats). All tables numbered 20 and above are open. Access the «membership brunch seating chart» showing the available tables/seats. Please contact Nancy Jacobs at (970) 946-3910 to reserve your seats. The price is $10 per member and $20 for first time guests. Nancy will also be selling seats at the September 25th program.

BRUNCH MENU: Egg salad filled croissant, melon salad and an apple crumb cupcake with goblin glaze. The special drink will be a Black Russian with spider on the side.

Remember you may wear a costume, or wear your black and orange – it’s the Halloween season. We would love to see you there. Join us for this fun event!

YOUTH ON THEIR OWN – DIVERSE NEEDS

We are so excited that YOTO will be the subject of our September program. We encourage all members who plan to attend to help polish off the school supply campaign and bring whatever school supplies you would like to the program on Sept 25.

Not into school supplies?  YOTO students always need non-perishable food from the YOTO mini mall. For more information please use «THIS LINK» to view.  «Youth on Their Own».

OKTOBERFEST GALA TICKETS

Sunday, October 29 · 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Madera Ballroom

Thanks to all who bought tickets at the meeting on Monday evening. We have eleven full tables of 10 left for ladies who want to get a table with their neighbors. There are numerous spots left for two or three couples. This event is open to the public. One does not have to be a member to attend. To order tickets at $30 each, please contact Peggy at pastpresident@womenqc.com.

Let’s talk food. German buffet: beef brats, broasted chicken, sauerkraut, German potato salad, green salad with choice of dressing, and a BIG cookie. Watch this space for information about the Bouncing Czechs. (Who???)

Pilsner Glasses

The Scholarship Committee is considering offering Pilsner beer glasses for sale to support its scholarship program. You would not only get a 16 oz. keepsake glass with the club logo in green on one side but also a free fill of a craft beer at the Oktoberfest on October 29 for only $8. Unfortunately the glasses are only sold in lots of 72 so we want to make sure we have a sufficient number for all interested persons but we also do not want to have too many.

If you think this is something you would be interested in purchasing, please let us know at pastpresident@womenqc.com by September 25 so we can get them ordered in time to ensure delivery in time for the Oktoberfest.

LECTURE SERIES: An Expert Shares the Story of Navajo Rugs

Navajo rug expert Steve Getzwiller of Nizhoni Ranch Gallery in Sonoita will share with us his extensive knowledge of Navajo rugs, their history, styles and current trends on Monday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Madera Clubhouse Ballroom.

Tickets ($5 cash only) will be available September 12 at the Concierge Desk. All proceeds will go to TWOQC Scholarship Fund. «MORE INFO»

HONOR FLIGHT

Honor Flight #23 landed safely at Tucson Airport Monday!

Families of the WWII and Korea War veterans, friends, Davis Monthan service personnel, patriots, alumni of the Honor Flight, 41 Patriot Guard Riders, Arizona Rangers and the Fort Huachuca Band welcomed the 67 veterans home from Washington D.C. on Monday, September 4th.

It was an emotional celebration. Quail Creek came forth with quilts and 12,000 letters for mail call. There were huge smiles, tears, handshakes, kisses and signs of welcome. Thank you for participating. Also a big thank-you to Kay Robinson our TWOQC Honor Flight Representative for her coordination on this project.

AUGUST PROGRAM – Thank you!

Rebecca Willer from Continental Spa asked us to convey her thanks to everyone who attended her talk “Natural Ways to Look and Feel Younger” on August 28. She hopes you enjoyed it and got some good tips from it.
