Today! Friday, March 2 · 9am-2pm
Please come by and say “hello” at TWOQC’s information booth in the Madera Clubhouse. The Clubhouse staff will once again host the Discover Quail Creek Event, “a clubs of Quail Creek gathering” with 40+ clubs. Please bring your friends and learn about that special club you’ve been wondering about or see what clubs are out there; then maybe stay for lunch at the Madera Grill.
March Field Trip to Tumacácori & Tubac
THE BUS IS FILLED for the March 26 field trip and we have started a waiting list in the event there are cancellations. Additionally, we are giving interested members of TWOQC an option. For $25 we will add you to the docent-led tours at each site and the lunch at The Italian Peasant — however you will have to provide your own transportation.
This is a great chance to spend time with fellow members and to have a specialized tour experience at each historic site. To get on the waiting list or make a “provide your own transportation” reservation, contact Peggy at pjmcgee@cox.net. Absolute deadline to sign up for the waiting list is March 14th.
Baby Shower for Military Families
The “Baby Bottles” will be in the lobby of the Madera Clubhouse this Monday, March 5th before the concert from 4:45 – 6:45 p.m. Please consider a donation of spare change or that loose dollar bill to help fill the bottles for the babies.
We are now up to 28 families registered for the May 19th event. We are still seeking donations of outfits, onesies, blankets, baby wash, baby powder, diapers and wipes. There are donation boxes in the Madera Clubhouse lobby and on Kathi Krieg’s front porch (2680 E Sawyer Road).
Questions? Contact Kathi at 625-5419 or babyshower@womenqc.com.
An Invitation from Youth On Their Own
YOTO is having its Spring luncheon, Wednesday, March 28 at 12:00 p.m. at the Tucson Convention Center (registration begins at 11:30; luncheon follows at 12pm). In recognition of the support TWOQC has given YOTO, they are offering discounted tickets to all members of The Women of Quail Creek. This is a terrific way to learn more about YOTO and to meet some of the students, staff and school liaisons that work with the program. If you wish to take advantage of the discounted price of $35, please contact Diane Quinn (yoto@womenqc.com) prior to March 12. Checks only made payable to YOTO. Regular priced tickets of $45 are available for purchase online at yoto.org.
Many thanks to those of you that provided items for the YOTO mini-mall at Monday’s program. (Click the image below to redirect to YOTO’s spring luncheon page.)

Member Spotlight: Kathe Alves
Kathe and her husband, David, moved from Olympia, Washington in October 2013 when they discovered Quail Creek and moved into an existing home. Both are active bikers and hikers, trekking the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain. Kathe and David have traveled extensively visiting all seven continents, 70 countries and 48 States.
Kathe works two days per week at the Pima County Juvenile Detention. She leads a HIIT FIT class at Anza twice a week, and admits to being ‘a rabid knitter’ for 50 years with several weaving looms in their home. Kathe dabbles in jewelry-making and currently is enjoying ‘Saori’ Japanese weaving. She enjoys singing soprano with the Green Valley Community Chorus and the Tubac Singers.
Roughly 10-years ago, Oprah Winfrey gifted Kathe $5K to build 7 wells in Papua New Guinea where she established a medical clinic and immunized hundreds of children in the bush (undeveloped jungle areas).
Thank You, Greeters
Thank you to the lovely team of membership greeters at Monday’s program. Your welcoming presence and the gift of your time are deeply appreciated: Linda Bradley, Rena Crane, Shirley Johnson, Yasmin John-Thorpe, Pat Neel and Deb Speer. (Program Photos)
Homeless & Hospitalized Veterans
A big thank you to all who brought donations for the veterans to the program on Monday. The homeless veterans’ office will be especially glad to receive the snack foods, disposable cups, plates and utensils. The books will make a great addition to the reading cart that circulates through the hospital. And of course, clothing is always needed.
