∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴
I have had a practice off and on over the years of keeping a journal. Sometimes, it was five minutes of putting my current thoughts down on paper. At other times, it was a chronicle of travel escapades. But recently, I came across another journal that I kept. It was called the Delight Journal. Everyday, I wrote a few lines or an entire page of something that delighted me. As I reread about the early morning sighting of a fawn, or the joy of cooking dinner with a friend, I was delighted all over again. So, I decided to begin the process again. Allow me to share a few moments of my recent delights:
- My husband and I just returned from taking a 2.5-mile walk with the pups. It was one of those early morning, extra warm walks. When we opened the front door and felt the coolness of the air in our home, it was pure delight! Ahh. I thought it doesn’t get better than this. But I was mistaken. My husband asked me to sit down and offered to remove my shoes and socks for even greater comfort. Delights abound when one takes the time to notice.
- I was looking for a book to share with a friend. As I found one of my favorites, I noticed a thank you note inside that I was using as a bookmark. It was from one of my dear pals who wanted to share her thankfulness for our friendship. Oh my. What a delight that I could have easily forgotten.
Here’s my challenge for you today.
Take a moment and just notice something that brings you a sense of delight. It might be really special or something so ordinary that you might have overlooked it. Notice how it makes you feel deep in your soul. Not a bad feeling, is it! Until next time, may you continue to have the pleasure of noticing pure delights.
