LAST CHANCE TO ORDER TWOQC POLO SHIRTS UNTIL AFTER THE BRUNCH
I will be placing another order for TWOQC pink polo shirts on August 18. The shirts are $18 and come in sizes Small to 2XX. I found they run small but since they are a blend, they do not shrink. If you wish to order a shirt, please let me know at pjmcgee@cox.net by August 17. You do not have to pay until the shirts are delivered.
TWOQC MEETING ON AUGUST 31
The program that starts at 6:30 p.m. will feature naturalist Jeff Babson. In his talk, Bites, Stings and Scratches, Jeff will investigate the plants and animals in the Sonoran desert that protect themselves in ways that are extremely unpopular with humans. You’ll learn all about the well-fortified flora and fauna that dwell in the desert—bees, scorpions, rattlesnakes, poison ivy, and many others.
SEPTEMBER 12-14TH HONOR FLIGHT
The American Veteran is one of our greatest treasures…. those men and women who answered our Nation’s call, especially in our times of greatest need. The Honor Flight mission is to honor and thank those veterans – especially our WWII veterans–by sending them to Washington DC for a day of honor, at no cost to them. Twenty-four WWII veterans (one female) will be on the flight out of Tucson on September 12. Please write up to 24 letters to the veterans traveling on this flight thanking them for their service. Please take the letters to Kay Robinson’s, 898 N Kenneth Drive by September 10th. It is heart-warming to see the vets opening the letters on the return trip after “Mail Call”.
FASHION SHOW
If you are a crafter and while the crowds are still down at the Creative Arts and Crafts Center, please consider creating something unique for a prize to be raffled at our Fashion Show to support cancer research and services for cancer patients in the local area. The Fashion Show being held on Friday, February 12, 2016 will feature outfits from Rose’s Fashions in Green Valley.
- If you are into ceramics, perhaps you could make some kind of figurine.
- Do you paint? A still life would make an ideal addition to someone’s collection.
- Is fused glass your thing? How about jewelry, a cheese tray or decorative plate?
All prize donations should be marked Raffle Luncheon and may be taken to Ginny Hutcheson’s house at 2494 E Bluejay Bluff Lane. If you leave your name and email address, Ginny will be able to get receipts for tax purposes to you.
COUPONS
Coupons for the next shipment of coupons to the two overseas bases that the club supports should expire July 15 or later. We cannot accept any uncut coupons since we have no volunteers to clip them. Coupons for the National Guard should expire September 21 or later. Clipped and sorted coupons can be dropped off at either Peggy Richmond’s (2731 E. Elba Court) or Judy Poffenbarger’s (2390 E Bluejay Bluff Lane) house.
