MEMORIAL DAY
TWOQC member Laura Colbert very graciously laid our wreath at the base of the Navy Flag at the Memorial Day ceremony this past Monday at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery. We are so proud to participate in this program each Memorial Day. Several other TWOQC members were in attendance to also honor veterans who have given their lives for our freedom. Photos below: Carol Mutter, Ruth McDermott, & Peggy McGee with Laura. Missing from event photos are Kay Robinson and Louise Engstrom. HONOR FLIGHT #23
Honor Flight #23 out of Tucson will be honoring 75 veterans with an all expense paid trip to Washington DC to visit the WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial and Vietnam Wall built in their honor. The trip focus is about thanking our veterans for their service and sacrifice they made so many years ago for the freedoms we enjoy today. Waiting for them on the return flight is another surprise – Mail Call – the same kind of mail call that kept their spirits alive during the war. For many of the veterans mail call is the highlight of their day of honor but is also a valuable and tangible keepsake of their trip.
The first 25 names may be accessed from this «LINK». The next 50 are not available as yet. However, you may address your letters to “Dear Hero.” Please include their first name and last initial on the envelope and do not seal the envelope due to last-minute changes. You may want to include a couple of extra letters to “Dear Veteran.” Please bring all letters to the July 31st TWOQC program for Kay Robinson or you may deliver them to Kay’s home at 898 N. Kenneth Drive no later than August 15. «map»

FEMALE HOMELESS VETERANS NEEDS
There is going to be a Stand-Down for Homeless Veterans in Tucson on June 13. This is sponsored by a lot of different service organizations to include the VA. Although the VA is currently not accepting most female attire, the organizers have identified some items they could use for this event:
Career: suits, dress slacks, blouses, skirts, shoes, handbags
Casual wear: slacks, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, hats, shoes, rain gear, light weight jackets
If anyone has any of the listed items, they may be dropped off at Peggy McGee’s house at 1908 E. Longspur Place by (new date): June 6. «map»
2017 TINIEST PATRIOTS BABY SHOWER
Thank you to all who volunteered and/or donated to the baby shower! Of course it was a tremendous success. Our military moms and dads were once again overwhelmed at the generosity of TWOQC and community residents who contributed to make their day so special. Co-hosts Pam Rodgers and Kathy Krieg and their entire committee outdid themselves again. Between our TWOQC and community members there were over 1,000 handmade items! Amazing!! Click the photo collage below to view 245 photos of the day. This special «THANK YOU» from one of the families was posted on our Facebook page.
The 162nd Wing National Guard presented TWOQC with a beautiful Family Readiness Appreciation Award for their thank you for the service we provide to the military. The award is on display at the CATC building in the display case located in front of the Computer Club meeting room, or you may view the award «HERE».
