July “JEOPARDY” Program
We look forward to you joining us for the “first ever in Quail Creek” JEOPARDY on Monday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. Six contestants will be chosen to participate to win cash and other prizes. To become a Quail Creek Jeopardy contestant, send a brief introduction of yourself to Kathe Alves, Programs Chair at «programs@womenqc.com».
Contestants will be selected the night of the event. The audience will have a chance to win prizes as well. Brush up on Arizona and Quail Creek trivia!
SPECIAL REQUEST:
Are you attending the Jeopardy program and do not plan to be a contestant? We would love to post video clips of the games (full or partial) on our website. If you whip out your smartphone and record a video (or two, or three), please contact Marianne at «webmaster@womenqc.com».
TIPS: Hold the phone/camera steady if possible; when moving from the contestants to “Alex Trebek” stream the movement at a slow pace; zooming isn’t necessary; and if using a smartphone — HOLD IT HORIZONTALLY (not vertically). The longer the video clip, the better – but we’ll consider all videos. You will be credited for your videography.
Don’t Forget The YOTO School Supply Drive
While you are preparing for Monday evening’s fun Jeopardy contest why not put together a few school supplies to bring for YOTO? If backpacks are not within your price range right now highlighters, index cards or composition books may be. Remember, everything you give goes to needy homeless or abandoned students enrolled in Pima County schools and participating in YOTO. What better way to help support a brighter future!

Can’t make Monday’s program? The donation bin is still available in the Clubhouse lobby.
Visors
We will be selling forest green visors with a gold quail for $10 each at a back table at the program on the 31st.
Cash or checks payable to TWOQC.
Pink Polo Shirts on $ale
It has been decided to replace the pink polo shirts with forest green shirts in the same style. The choice was made since green is the club’s color. Of course, if you have a pink shirt you may continue to wear it to our functions.
We have a few pink shirts left in the following sizes: one large; four 2X; and one 3X. We will be selling them after the Jeopardy program at a clearance sale price of $18. Cash or checks payable to TWOQC.
We will start taking orders for the green shirts at the August 28 program.
Homeless & Hospitalized Veterans
Donations for the veterans may be placed on the table at the back of the ballroom on July 31.
Hospitalized veterans’ needs: Books, playing cards, puzzle books, note cards and greeting cards, 2018 calendars in both wall and pocket styles.
Homeless veterans’ needs: Unopened travel sized toiletries, toothpaste and brushes, razors and shaving cream, sun screen, water, snack bars. They are also requesting disposable plates, cups and utensils—packages may be opened.
There is a desperate need for men’s and women’s underwear in all sizes. Underpants and sports bras must be new. Undershirts and other bras can be gently used.
Babies’ needs: A baby girl is due in early August. We have a Mom’s bag and a basket with some items but need diapers, wipes and clothing that can be gently used. Jumpers, high chairs, portable cribs/playpens, car seats are always welcomed.
Pet needs: Food, bedding, leashes, water dishes, toys, litter.
Honor Flight #23 – Coming in September
Honor Flight #23 out of Tucson will be honoring 66 WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans with an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC to see the WWII and Korean Memorial and the Vietnam Wall built in their honor. The focus is about thanking our veterans for the service and sacrifice they made so many years ago for the freedoms we enjoy today. On the return flight they all have a surprise of mail call – the same kind that kept their spirits alive during the war. These notes and letters are a valuable and tangible keepsake of their trip.
Write letters and notes to “Dear Hero” and write their first name and last initial on the envelope. Please do not seal the envelope due to last-minute changes, and include a few extras “To A Veteran” if you would like. Letters and notes may be delivered to Kay Robinson at 898 N. Kenneth Drive (map) no later than August 15 or you may bring them to the July program. The letters to the veteran’s will be collected at the July 31st TWOQC program and sent to the Honor Flight staff to be distributed into each veterans’ mail bag.Thank you for honoring our veterans.
The «Honor Flight List of Names» has been updated to reflect recent changes.
Veteran’s Administration Clothing Drive
Our theme this year is “A Gift of Hope” with the idea of giving our veterans some “hope” that someone really cares and wants to help them. There is still a need for many more volunteers. Check out the veteran’s table at the back of the room at Monday’s program where there will be an opportunity for signing up and someone to answer your questions.
Come join the team! If you can even help just that day, please contact Laura Colbert at «clothingdrive@womenqc.com» or 520-625-4033, or speak to Laura at the Jeopardy program on Monday.
