Friday Morning Message

Posted on February 9, 2018 by The Women of Quail Creek

This week’s Friday Morning Message:  ♥Fashion Show Luncheon Success! | ♥Field Trip in March | ♥2018 Baby Shower | ♥Kino Lecture Series: American Turquoise | ♥Membership Announcements | ♥Need a Valentine’s Day Gift? | ♥Upcoming Events

Relay for Life/TWOQC Fashion Show Luncheon

A huge “thank you!” to all those who volunteered their time, talent, and energy to this fabulous event. A very, very special “thank you” to Carol Shelton and Ginny Hutcheson for all their efforts.

The event was sold out with 300+ women in attendance (plus 1 man – Denis from American Cancer Society), and a record amount was raised to fight this disease and help find a cure.

In one day…

  • We gave away 104 raffle baskets;
  • 22 silent auction items were sold;
  • The 50/50 raffle totaled $4,281!
  • The one-day total raised was over $15,100 – a new record high for this five-year-old event!

Want to see photos? The Fashion Show Luncheon photos (95!) have been uploaded by our famous Eileen Sykora, TWOQC photographer.

Field Trip – Monday, March 26

Field Trip Seats are Going Fast, Reserve Now!

The March 26 field trip to Tumacácori National Historic Park and Tubac Presidio promises to be great fun and very informative.  Seats on the bus are being sold now. Reserve your space by contacting Janice Messer (events@womenqc.com) or Peggy McGee  (pjmcgee@cox.net). Reservations are $40 per person and include bus fare, gratuity, guided tours at each site, and lunch at The Italian Peasant in Tubac. Don’t miss this fun time. Buses begin loading at 9:00 a.m.

When making your reservation, let Janice or Peggy know if you have a National Parks Pass in your own name (sorry, spouse’s pass won’t work). Plan on bringing your pass on the day of the event. This will allow the Park Service to charge less to TWOQC.  While you will not personally receive a discount, TWOQC future programs will benefit from the overall savings.

Note: The FMM email stated that the Field Trip was scheduled for March 16. The correct date is March 26.

2018 Baby Shower for Military Families

We now have 17 families participating! Donations continue to come in. Our donation box is in the Madera Clubhouse and another box is at the front door of Kathi Krieg (Chairperson) at 2680 E Sawyer Road. Remember our “Baby Bottles” will be at the Madera Clubhouse at 4:30 p.m. before each concert event in February and March. (Check our online website Calendar for dates and times.)

The next committee planning meeting is Wednesday, February 14th at 10:00 a.m. in the Kino Conference Room.

American Turquoise: “Collecting with Confidence”

On Monday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Crystal Ballroom, the third lecture in the Kino Lecture series will take place. Jason Winfield of Lone Mountain Turquoise Company will share his expertise of American turquoise: how to collect and know what you are buying.

Mr. Winfield will be available in 5 minute segments from 4:00-6:00 to evaluate up to 3 pieces of your turquoise jewelry.

Tickets to the lecture ($5) and appraisal session sign-up ($10) are available at the Concierge (checks only, payable to TWOQC Charity Fund); at the TWOQC February 26 program and at the door (cash or check) the evening of the lecture. All proceeds from both the lecture and the evaluations support TWOQC’s Scholarship Fund.

Membership Needs Your Help!

Would you like to help as a Greeter at the TWOQC program, 10:00 a.m. on February 26? Greeters hand out name tags, help at the guest book, collect membership dues, assist with door prize sign-up and warmly welcome our TWOQC members to the program. Please email Angie Werner (membership@womenqc.com) by Monday, February 19, if you would like to help.

The first New Member Welcome Party of 2018 was attended by 19 new members and six Board members on the afternoon of Thursday, February 1. It was a fantastic opportunity to get to know our newest members and introduce them to our current board members while sharing information about the worthy causes TWOQC supports. Thank you to all who attended!

Just a thought for Valentine’s Day: Aprons

Need a Valentine gift and feeling practical? A red apron might do the trick. Cost is $18. Contact Peggy (pjmcgee@cox.net) to arrange for pick-up.
