Going to the Concert Tonight?
If so, please consider stopping by the lobby and visiting our table and the famous “Baby Bottles”!
We would love to see you and maybe bring your spare change or paper dollars to help fill the baby bottles for the Baby Shower for Military Families. We will be in the Madera Clubhouse lobby starting at 4:45 p.m.
TWOQC Field Trip: Monday, March 26
Two seats are available on the bus!
Due to cancellations, there are two seats available on the bus for the March 26 field trip. You can still join us when we visit Tumacacori Mission and Tubac Presidio and have a great luncheon at The Italian Peasant. All inclusive tickets are $40. We must have your reservation now so don’t delay.
For those who have already decided to join the fun, you might want to consider bringing a walking stick or hiking pole to navigate the uneven pathways at these historic sites. Also remember your sunscreen, a hat and comfortable walking shoes. If you have a National Park Senior Pass, put it in your wallet now and remember to bring it that day. And if using the Pass, a photo ID must also be provided.
Plan to check-in for the bus at 8:45 a.m. in front of the Madera Clubhouse. We should return to Quail Creek no later than 4:00 pm.
YOTO Makes The News!
There was a terrific article about Youth On Their Own (YOTO) in the Arizona Daily Star this week. If you missed it, we have the STORY LINK for you.
Eight Weeks to the Baby Shower
With only 8-weeks left until the 2018 Baby Shower for Military Families, the committee is in great need of donations of baby items for the 28 families (29 babies). Yes, we’ve been blessed with an expected set of twins!
We could use: diapers (sizes 1, 2 or 3); baby wipes and wash; outfits/separates or “Onesies” (sizes NB, 3-month, 6-month and 9-month) and blankets.
Please place donations in our box in the Madera Clubhouse lobby or at the box at Kathi Krieg’s porch, 2680 E. Sawyer Road.
If you can’t get out to shop, please consider mailing a check to Kathi Krieg (2680 E. Sawyer Road, Green Valley 85614) making checks payable to: TWOQC Charity Account. Our committee members will do the shopping for you! Thank you so much for your continued support.
Volunteer Opportunity: Sunday, April 8 – 1 Day Only!
TWOQC is partnering with the Quail Creek Cool Car Club for their 3rd Annual Car Show on Sunday, April 8. Each year this charity event supports a worthy local cause. This year Genesis House/Hands of a Friend will be receiving 100% of the proceeds from this event. Volunteers from TWOQC are needed to work at a table helping to collect the paper towels, toilet paper and Kleenex that will be donated by participants and attendees of the event.
Two to three volunteers are needed from 10:30-1:00 and two to three volunteers are needed from 1:00-3:30. Volunteers will collect the paper products and help load them into the Genesis House vehicles. Please contact Angie Werner if you can help at AngelaWerner214@yahoo.com or (402) 309-5467 (call or text).
If you can help us to help Genesis House with a donation of paper products, please bring them (paper towels, toilet paper, Kleenex, 15-gallon and 30-gallon garbage bags) to the Car Show from 11:00-3:00 in the Clubhouse parking lot. See some cool cars, eat a yummy lunch and buy some raffle tickets while you are there!
Member Spotlight: Kay Robinson
Kay met her husband, Ray, at age 17 while she was attending a girl’s camp (he was the only “boy” helping with maintenance). They married in 1964 after dating for 5-years. The couple lived in Florida, Texas, Hawaii, and Okinawa during which Ray worked for the Army National Guard, flying ERA Aviation to oil rigs and Mercy Flights Medi-Vac. Following his 5-years of flying the couple moved to Geneseo, New York where they worked as teachers. (Kay taught Kindergarten and Ray, K-12 P/E.)
In April 2010, the couple came to Quail Creek where the dry heat is easier on Kay’s arthritis and Ray breathes better after losing 1/3 of his lungs working at Ground Zero during the post-9/11 clean-up (Air Army National Guard).
Kay and Ray are active members at the Desert Hills Lutheran Church. They belong to the American Legion, Patriot Guard Riders and the Corvette Outlaws. Both were guardians for WWII Veterans on the Honor Flight in 2012 (a free 3-day trip for the Veterans to Washington DC to see the war monuments in their honor). Kay says that this is an amazing and wonderful experience as some Veterans think they have been forgotten. She considers it a pleasure & honor to be the Honor Flight representative for TWOQC.
Kay enjoys the fellowship of her neighborhood, the Quilt Covey and the Valley Quilt Guild. She loves swimming, bike riding (both pedal and motorcycle), canoeing, reading, crafts, sewing and serving the Lord.
