2018 Military Families Baby Shower – 1 week to go!
Only one week until the families get “showered” with all the wonderful baby gifts our members and community have donated to this great event. The 29 families will truly be blessed this year.
The donation box in the Madera Clubhouse lobby is available for last-minute donations, but only until Monday, 5/14. So, please, if you still want to contribute, drop your things by the Clubhouse or the Concierge Desk by Monday afternoon.
Reserve your Seat for June Luncheon
Reserved seating for the June Luncheon will be on sale in the Madera Clubhouse lobby before the May program on Monday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. Prices are $20/member, $25/guest with tables of 8 being planned.
You may also reserve your luncheon seats any day of the week from Janice Messer at events@womenqc.com or (951) 230-1171. Please let her know if you have a preference of table number (maybe you’ll be joining your friends who already have their reserved seats). As always, reserve your seats early for the best choice of tables/seats.
Need a Table at the May Program?
All board chairs and committees please email Janice Messer before May 15 to let her know if you need a table for the May 21st Program. The table space at the back of the room will be limited to 3 or 4 round tables. Contact Janice at events@womenqc.com.
VA Clothing Drive Needs Your Donations
Have you just moved to Quail Creek and realize you have more cold weather clothing than you’re going to need? Or, are you packing for your summer vacation and noticed clothing you did not wear this past winter? Now is the time to bag things up to donate to The Women of Quail Creek’s annual Homeless Veterans Clothing and Household Goods Drive on October 20th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot between the Creative Arts & Technology Building and the Madera Clubhouse.
Volunteers will be accepting gently used, clean and in good repair winter clothing and small household items. And don’t forget to save those hotel size toiletries this summer and bring them along, too!
All donations are appreciated, but this year there will be no pre-inventory or storage of donations prior to the event. If you are unable to bring your items to the October drive or you’re leaving town before the event, ask a neighbor, friend or your house watch person to store and deliver them the day of the drive.
Questions? Contact Anne Smith clothingdrive@womenqc.com.
Got Boxes? We need them for the VA Clothing Drive!
We are eagerly collecting boxes to use for donated items now. If you have small to medium-sized boxes (approximately 16” x 12” or a bit larger), we need them. Please flatten all boxes for easier storage.
To donate boxes, please call Bobbi Gordon at (520) 625-9353. Thanks for helping out!
TWOQC Member Spotlight: Deborah Bryant
Deborah grew up in Texas and has lived all over the world. She and her husband (Jerry) of 47 years spent the past 20 years in the Washington D.C. area where she chaired business networking groups in Maryland and Virginia, and also participated in annual charity fundraisers, scholarships and business recognition programs.
Through the couple’s travels, Deborah accumulated over 40-years experience in sales and marketing as an internationally accomplished businesswoman in the cosmetic, fashion, and textile industries. Today she remains active with a U.S.-based international wellness company.
As a member of the Air Force Officer’s Wives’ Club Deborah was involved in charitable and social support programs at bases in the U.S., Japan, and Germany. Prior to a diplomatic posting to the American Embassy in Turkey, Deborah joined her husband in an extensive year of Turkish language training and audited classes at the Naval Postgraduate School. While off-duty the couple enjoyed scuba diving, and travel to Europe, Northern Africa, Red Sea, Mediterranean, Asia, and Hawaii.
Moving to Quail Creek has been yet another adventure in the couple’s life, where Deborah now lives near her mother and sister. Deborah’s interests include cooking, physical training, travel, golf and leading the Cool Car Club with her husband. She enjoys the great ladies in her Unit’s Canasta group.
