The Reason We Are Members
It’s that time of year when we begin to remind each of our members that it is time to think about renewing membership for next year. I am not clairvoyant, but I would imagine that some of our members are wondering what next year will bring and what The Women of Quail Creek has in store for each of us. Some of you will have no hesitation to renew your membership whether because you are the optimistic sort who believes that “normal” will return soon, or whether you invest in TWOQC because of its mission to support those in need.
Those of us who plan the activities of TWOQC and who plot the course of its future cannot promise you that programming will return to normal in early 2021, but we can promise you that we are trying to be creative and we are trying to implement ways for us to gather safely. We may be gathering via video conferences or webinars, as you will shortly learn. We may also, in some cases, be able to start small group activities that allow us to explore new learning opportunities.
Regardless of our methods of gathering, it is certain that we will listen to the interests of our members and we will keep the fun and friendship alive in TWOQC. We will also continue to support charitable causes, which so many of you express as your primary reason for being part of TWOQC.
We are the only club in Quail Creek with broad, continual efforts to support the women of our community while also supporting a range of needs in Southern Arizona. We are unique and strong because of our members and their passion for TWOQC. It’s time to let that passion shine and bring it into 2021!!

Sonoran Foods Virtual Cooking Class Coming Your Way
Our first program offering since COVID-19 hit will take place on Saturday, September 26th at 1 p.m. Because we can’t meet in person, Minerva Orduno Rincón will host a virtual cooking class for us via ZOOM. Minerva, who hails from Sonora, Mexico, will teach us how to make Sonoran flour tortillas with roasted chiles and cheese. This menu will provide an opportunity to discuss the importance of the roasted chile fragrance in Sonoran cuisine and culture and introduce a variety of Mexican cheeses and their different flavor profiles. The class will last approximately one hour.
Because this is a ZOOM presentation, only 100 participants will be able to attend so it’s a Members Only event. A few days before the showing, we will send a link to members via a MailChimp message. In the event we exceed the class size limitation, or you are unavailable on the 26th, Minerva will record the session so members can watch it the following week.
We hope you will enjoy the virtual presentation and we invite your feedback so we will know whether to try a similar webinar on a different topic.
Scholarships: Pints or Flashlights?
We suggested Christmas in August shopping and sold out of both the insulated shopping totes and lighted magnifying glasses. Now, fall is arriving soon, and it will be getting dark earlier so as we finish our pints of beer and need to take the dog for a walk we NEED a really good flashlight.
Please consider helping fund TWOQC Scholarships while the limited supply lasts. How many pints do you want ($8 each)? How many flashlights ($5 each)? What color …red, blue, orange, green or purple?
Contact Jean Hewitt: scholarships@womenqc.com or (520) 300-6824
Merchandise will be delivered to your home.
Please make checks payable to: TWOQC Scholarship Charity Account

PIMA LOVE NOTES
Tons of love and a huge thank you for the scores of beautiful cards and notes that are lifting hopes and bringing encouragement to Green Valley’s long-term care residents. The project continues as the facilities plan for reopening and return to normal. Dedicated volunteers from TWOQC, the Stampers & Scrappers Club and Quail Creek friends have come together to make this possible. For information about sending a card, click here, and here is the list of participating facilities.
