∴ PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE ∴
Happy 250th Anniversary America! What an awesome privilege to live in this great country. It is also a privilege to step into the leadership role of The Women of Quail Creek. As many of you know, our President, Janet Shropshire, has stepped down and has returned to her hometown in Texas. As President Elect, I will be assuming her role through the end of 2026 after which I officially become President.
In the structure of TWOQC, the President is not an elected position. A President Elect is chosen by the membership in a fall election each year. The President Elect serves under the President for one year, then automatically accedes to the Presidency the following year. It is not only a training period, but a safety net in case the President is unable to complete her term. In this way, continuity within TWOQC is preserved. In accordance with our Bylaws, the President Elect serves for the duration of the unexpired term of the President and then accedes to the Presidency. As a result, I will be President Elect, acting as President, for the remainder of 2026.
These unexpected circumstances have given me a renewed belief that each Board position should have an assistant in training who would be willing and able to assume that position in the future. Next month I will be appointing a Nominations Committee who will be identifying members willing to run for open positions in 2027. Each Director serves for a two-year period and is allowed to run for one additional two-year term in that position.
In addition to the upcoming elections, I am hoping to identify members who would be willing to serve alongside of these Directors as assistants in training for the future. The only way our wonderful organization can continue is to have members who are willing to assume Directorship roles in the future.
