FRIDAY MORNING MESSAGE

Posted on November 30, 2018 by The Women of Quail Creek

Nov. 30, 2018 — In this week’s President’s Message: 🎄Holiday Luncheon: Updates | 🎅YOTO Enrollment Continues to Grow | Member’s Corner: More New Members, Renewals, & Member Spotlight  | Upcoming Events

Holiday Luncheon: Reservations and More!

Oh what fun… it’s almost here, TWOQC’s Holiday Luncheon.

Come join us on Monday, December 10th for a festive holiday lunch and lots of wonderful holiday music. This is a perfect time to share holiday cheer with friends and neighbors.

11:00 Bar opens; 11:30 doors open; 12:00 lunch is served

Seats for the luncheon are $20 for members and $25 for first-time guests. There are only a few seats left and we’re sure there’s one with your name on it. We hope to see you there.

To purchase your luncheon reservations contact activities@womenqc.com.

Feeling the holiday spirit? Don your favorite festive sweater for a photo opportunity with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Bring ca$h for the table centerpiece raffle! These beautiful centerpieces will be raffled at the end of the luncheon. Tickets: 3 for $5 (cash only, please).

Purchase your Fashion Show for Cancer Research Luncheon tickets at the holiday luncheon. Fashion Show luncheon tickets will be on sale. You may wish to bring your checkbook and be ahead of the crowd. Tickets are $25 for the February 25th event. Remember, this luncheon is open to all so bring your friends!

Youth On Their Own Enrollment Continues to Grow

Enrollment in YOTO (Youth On Their Own) has grown over 10% compared to this time last year.  Middle school student participation has also increased so that more students than we anticipated need holiday gift bags. Sue Ann Obremski has made additional green cards, with instructions, for our members to use so that we might bring holiday joy to all the middle school students using YOTO. If you can help, please contact Sue Ann at 399-2354 or secretary@womenqc.com  to get a card.

Remember, if you are not able to attend the December 10 luncheon, take you gift bag to Diane Quinn’s house, 2276 E Skywalker Way, no later than December 8.

YOTO is a non-profit organization and to maintain this status they must keep meticulous records of all donations they receive. TWOQC is helping YOTO staff by creating an inventory of the items being donated through the holiday campaign. Before turning in your gift, please complete ♥ THIS FORM ♥ and attach it to your bag or blanket. (Alternate link to the FORM if other link doesn’t cooperate.) If you wish to have YOTO acknowledge your gift you may list your contact information. If you do not care to be acknowledged you may leave that part blank. Questions? Contact yoto@womenqc.com.

Member’s Corner

Nearly month to month TWOQC has gained new members by the handful. Please join us in welcoming our newest members: Betsy Brown, Jane Brust, Carol Cutshall, Rosie Evans, Julie Shearer, and Anna Uhric. New members at our events and programs are easy to spot – they will be wearing a pink name tag. Please take a moment to give them a warm welcome.

If you joined TWOQC in 2018 and have not attended a New Member Welcome Party, then mark your calendar for one of these dates: January 14 or January 24. Look for more information to come.

Membership Renewals

Thank you to all who have completed your TWOQC 2019 membership renewals. To renew please mail or drop off your 2019 membership renewal check ($25, payable to: TWOQC) to Angie Werner, 1924 E Orinda Lane. If your information has not changed, place a note on your check stating, “no changes”.  If your information has changed, please fill out the membership form. Forms may be found online at womenqc.com/membership-form or at the Madera Clubhouse. We are grateful for you, our fantastic members!

Member Spotlight: Louise Engstrom

Louise was born and raised in the small town of Burgaw, N.C. She graduated high school in 1959 and then attended Miller Mott Business College. Ten years later, in 1969, she moved to Seattle, WA, where she worked in the accounting field until she retired in 1990.

Louise met and married the love of her life, Don in 1980. Together they have a combined family of four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The couple bought their home in Quail Creek, in 2004, where they were snowbirds until 2015.

Louise joined TWOQC seven years ago. She has been a volunteer with the National Guard Baby Shower for the past four years helping with different committees. She collects diapers and admits she loves every minute of the preparation leading up to the event itself where she gets her ‘baby’ fix by cradling the newborn babies. She also assists with YOTO (Youth On Their Own), transporting Christmas gift-bags to YOTO in Tucson.

The couple are now permanently living at Quail Creek and loving every minute of it.
