2016 TWOQC Nominations for Board Positions
In accordance with the new TWOQC By-laws adopted on October 31, 2016, four positions are to be filled during elections at our December luncheon.
The Nominating Committee has put forth the following names and positions:
- President Elect – Pam Rodgers
- 2nd VP/Membership – Judy Collins
- Treasurer – Linda Matthews or Nancy Jacobs
- Programs – Kathe Alves
Election for all positions will take place by ballot vote at the December luncheon on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Noon.

2017 Membership Renewals
2017 Applications for new members and renewals for current members will be available at the December luncheon or you may go directly to the website to complete the «application». You may bring your renewal to the holiday luncheon, mail to Patti Giannasi at 1232 N. Rams Head Rd. or place in The Women of Quail Creek box at Patti’s front door. «map»
Make a Young Girl Smile this Holiday
Girls participating in Youth on Their Own (YOTO) need your love this holiday. Help us fill our holiday luncheon sleigh with gift bags for young women and girls who do not have a stable home environment this year. We still have names and ages of many girls who would be thrilled to receive your gift. Suggestions for gifts can include things like lap blankets, backpacks, slippers, gloves, lotions or Walmart gift cards. You may even want to give one of our “Perfect Wraps.”
The choice of gift(s) is yours. These are only suggestions. Please let us know if you would like to leave a gift bag but won’t be able to attend the luncheon.

More Donations to Homeless VA Program
After the Quail Creek community garage sale, more donations poured in from our members for the VA Homeless Program. A carload of donated items were delivered to the VA the following week.
A big thank you to Ginny Hutcheson, Chris Tyler and Pam Butler for their generous donations from their respective garage sales. And hugs to Laura Colbert for taking everything to the VA. Laura and Peggy McGee have both made additional trips to the VA delivering more items for both the homeless and hospitalized veterans.
The staff at the homeless center said they can also use paper products and plastic utensils for the veterans who walk into their office. If you have any left-over Thanksgiving napkins or other napkins, small paper plates, Styrofoam cups, please bring them to the luncheon on December 12. If you aren’t attending the luncheon, they may be left at Peggy’s house at 1908 E Longspur Place. «map»
Hospitalized Veterans
As you prepare for the holidays, please consider the veterans who are hospitalized long-term at the Tucson VA hospital. Some of these patients actually stay in the hospital while others are seen on an outpatient basis after their initial hospitalization.
Some items on their “wish list” include: baseball and knitted hats, gloves, scarfs, back scratchers, watches, book lights, audio books on CD, AM/FM radios or CD players with headset, puzzle books (including large print), playing cards, and hand held electronic games, shoe laces, sunglasses, deodorant, gloves, nail clippers and water bottles. If you would like to contribute please place them on the table at the back of the ballroom on December 12.
Thanks From The VA
We received a thank you from the VA for all our efforts for the clothing drive on October 15: «Thank You Note». If you completed a donation form and have not yet received an acknowledgement from the VA, please contact Peggy at «pastpresident@womenqc.com» and she will follow-up with the VA.
Coupons
Coupons for the National Guard should expire December 12 or later, and those for overseas should expire October 1 or later. Coupons may be left on one of the tables in the back of the ballroom, or dropped off at Judy Poffenbarger’s at 2390 E. Bluejay Bluff Lane (map) or Peggy Richmond’s at 2731 E.
