SUMMER LUNCHEON IN JUNE

The luncheon is Monday, June 26. Doors and bar open at 11:00. Program will begin at 11:30. Only TWOQC members and first-time guests will be sold seating at $20 each. The program will be a vintage fashion show by the «Vigilettes» from Tombstone, AZ.

The luncheon menu will be: tomato-filled with chicken salad, rosemary rolls, and for dessert: ice cream with caramel sauce/whipped cream/rolled wafer cookie. Specialty drinks are vintage cocktails at $4 each: Tom Collins, and Cuba Libre.

MONTHLY PROGRAM TABLE REQUESTS

Committees and others requiring table space at programs must submit their requests one (1) week prior to the program date. Please submit your requests to Nancy Jacobs «events@womenqc.com».

2017 BABY SHOWER

There are only 2 weeks to our 2017 event! Baby count is 30: 14 boys, 9 girls, and 7 unknown gender.

The planning is finished and final touches are being completed. The committee is catching their breath but gearing up for the hard work and long hours in the next 2 weeks to make this event even better than last year.

We thank the TWOQC members and community neighbors for your contributions for the baby shower. It is the generosity of Quail Creek, Green Valley and Sahuarita that makes it amazing to live here. Please watch in the coming weeks for links to photos and media coverage of the big day. Can’t resist one last trip through the baby department? The donation box will be at the Madera Clubhouse until May 9 for any last minute contributions.

«YOUTH ON THEIR OWN»

A huge THANK YOU to all the members of TWOQC who contributed to the recent mini-mall/pantry collection for YOTO. The committee has now delivered over 400 lbs of food and hygiene items to YOTO offices. The items will help YOTO provide for its 1,600+ students over the summer months. The storage area now has an alarm and is flood-lighted at night to prevent future break-ins.

A big thank you also comes from YOTO where Kristyn Conner stated “WOW! I am always so blown away by your group’s generosity!!! Thank you so much.”

ARE YOU MISSING SOME SCISSORS??

Rocio Patel borrowed a pair of scissors the evening of April 24 and gave them to Kathe Alves to return to their owner.

HONOR FLIGHT #23

April’s Honor Flight #23 was postponed to September. The committee will charter an aircraft, therefore the number of veterans going to Washington DC will be 75 (not the normal 25). If you have written to the first 25, please bring the letters to the May program. As soon as the additional 50 names are available, the FMM will advise you. The secret “Mail Call” is one of the highlights of the trip. Please consider writing to the Vets to thank them for their service and to honor them.

The Veterans have been receiving patriotic lap quilts upon their return trip as a memento. Twenty-five have been collected from Quilt Covey, Valley Quilt Guild and Desert Hills Lutheran Church sewing group. If you are inclined, we need 50 more quilts (last trip not all Vets received a quilt). Please consider making, buying or asking for a quilt to be distributed on the return trip. It is important to have one for each of the 75 Vets. The quilts may be dropped off at Kay Robinson’s home, 898 N Kenneth Drive anytime. «map»

NEW MEMBER WINE & CHEESE PARTY

The Membership Committee (Judy Collins, Linda Matthews) hosted a new member “meet & greet” on Thursday, May 4 at the home of Linda Matthews. Thank you to all who attended to help welcome the newest members and to answer their questions regarding TWOQC.
