Unit Party “Diaper Round-Up”
This year’s Unit 31 Spring Party was a “Diaper Round-Up” for the Baby Shower.
The Unit gathered over 3,500 diapers for our military babies. What a great way to say “thank you” to our local servicemen and women!
Field Trip to Tubac and Tumacácori on March 26
Fifty-six members enjoyed a day at our local historical sites learning ancient and modern history of this area of the country. For instance, did you know that the word, O’odham (as in Tohono O’odham) means “people?” And that the very first state park in all of Arizona was the Presidio at Tubac? The field trip was a great day and a prosperous one for the baby shower. Ladies on the bus contributed $228. Thank you! Field Trip Photos (by Eileen Sykora)
2018 Honor Flight
Spring is here and that means it’s time for the annual Posada Java Fundraiser (flyer). Tomorrow, March 31st, the Big Band Sounds of Green Valley will be playing from noon until 2 p.m. at Posada Java (665 S. Park Centre Avenue). Since 2013 this concert has raised enough money to send 15 veterans on their Honor Flights. If you are out and about please take a minute to stop by and say ‘hi’!
Also, please remember the Honor Flight this year has 23 Veterans and we are still collecting letters and cards for them for “Mail Call” on the return flight. Here is the list of names. Please take all letters/cards to Kay Robinson (898 N Kenneth Drive). Thank you for your support.
Just a Thought…
Going to a friend’s house for Easter and need a hostess gift?
How about a wine tote @$4 or a thermal tote at $7? Or, are you hosting an Easter dinner and need an apron. Available in both red and green. Regular length is $18 and the tavern length is $15. Contact Pat at presidentelect@womenqc.com to arrange for pick-up.
Donations for Homeless & Hospitalized Veterans
Please do not leave any donations for the VA at Peggy McGee’s house until further notice. Donations may be left with Laura Colbert (2040 E Cypress Canyon Drive).
Member Spotlight: Holly Crombie
Holly and her husband, Ken, moved to Quail Creek in 2004 from Parker, Colorado, a town southeast of Denver. The couple is quite active enjoying golf, tennis, and occasionally Pickleball. Ken and Holly like traveling, cruising, and visiting friends and family in Ohio.
Holly can be found walking as this comes under the heading of ‘staying active’. She has been a volunteer and an assistant riding instructor at Praying Hands Ranch in Parker, a therapeutic riding facility solely dedicated to handicapped children and adults. At the ranch she has observed miracles with children and adults who benefit from the equine riding therapy. Holly says this is by far the best experience of her lifetime.
Holly has worked at Curves in Green Valley where she was a Zumba instructor. She started a cat watching group, FFOOL (Feline Friends Of Orchid Lane) for neighbors who take turns looking after each other’s cats, and also keeps busy as the organizer (this year) of the Orchid Lane monthly ladies’ luncheon – both are part of Holly’s busy schedule.
As a member of the PAG (Performing Arts Guild) of Quail Creek, she shows her enjoyment of performing by entertaining the residents. Holly joined TWOQC in January because she believes in giving back to the community.
