A big thank you to The Women of Quail Creek who donated to the VA Homeless Veterans Clothing and Household Drive. The drive was a great success with donations of 8,771 items, 2 bicycles, 115 pounds of “ready to eat food” and VA hospital products.
Also, a heartfelt thanks goes to the 110 volunteers (including 13 Junior ROTC members from local schools) who spent countless hours organizing the event, accepting donations, and then folding and boxing the thousands of items brought in. We couldn’t have done it without you! Start saving your donations for next year’s drive in October 2019. See the PHOTOS, a collection from several photographer’s who were on-hand.
Find out why we are so excited about Ladies Night Out!
The volunteers who are putting together Ladies Night Out are really excited. In fact, their excitement seems infectious, so many people are talking about this first-time event. Each of the organizers and demonstrators have put together an evening that is designed to be fun and festive. You can choose to browse through the various stations or you can try your hand at making a holiday item or two.
Do you have a scarf you can’t figure out how to wear? Or maybe you were given one you love but have never figured out what to do with it. Bring it to Ladies Night Out and you will go home happy!
Tickets will only be available for a few more days. Contact Janice Messer (951) 230-1171 or activities@womenqc.com.
Santa’s Elves will be at the Fiesta!
Even Santa’s Elves want to join our Mexican Fiesta membership celebration! Members of the YOTO Committee, many of whom will be disguised as Santa’s helpers, will be distributing holiday gift giving information for our annual YOTO holiday gift drive.
If you would like to help a young homeless student have a happy holiday, pick up a card during the membership luncheon on Monday. A GREEN card means you will be shopping for a middle school participant in YOTO. Instructions and shopping suggestions will be in each card. A RED card means you are being asked to provide a gift card and a blanket for a high school student.
TWOQC’s holiday gift drive for YOTO has become a favorite of many members and it is much appreciated by the YOTO students and staff. So, get your card, or take two if you are feeling extra holiday spirit. Then tell your friends who may not be at the luncheon that they can help YOTO, too. For more information contact Diane Quinn at yoto@womenqc.com.
Shirts @ $20 and visors @$5 will be on sale in the back of the ballroom at our membership luncheon on October 29. We have the shirts in pink with navy logo in sizes 2XL and 3XL only. Green shirts with gold logo are available in sizes small – 3XL. If you need a shirt prior to the luncheon, please contact Peggy McGee at pjmcgee@cox.net or (520) 207-6188.
If you have not yet renewed your membership for 2019 please consider doing so at Monday’s Fiesta Membership Luncheon. We’ve made it easy! Simply bring dues ($25) to the Membership table. No forms necessary unless your information has changed. Should a form be required, you may download it from the Membership page.
Members who are rejoining after time away from TWOQC will need to fill out a Membership Form for re-entry into TWOQC database.
If you are mailing your 2019 dues or dropping them at the box by Angie’s door, please make sure your name is included on a separate note attached to the check or cash. Angie Werner: 1924 E. Orinda Lane, Green Valley 85614

TWOQC Member Spotlight – Barb Hunsinger
Barb moved to Quail Creek a little over a year ago and loves it here! After 38 years in the Seattle area, she was ready for a sunnier, less congested, and more affordable place to live. Although she knew no one when she arrived, she jumped in with both feet and took advantage of all the clubs and activities – TWOQC, Lady Putters, quilting, art glass, and ceramics. Barb recently volunteered as TWOQC Membership Assistant, a role that provides backup support to the Membership Chair.
Fun fact: Barb met her current partner last summer at the Octopus Car Wash! She also gets to see a lot of her 93-year-old dad who lives in southeast Tucson – they usher at a small local theater and attend other productions together. She has a son who lives in Seattle, a daughter in San Jose, and two grand-dogs! Family and friends visit often (“Move to Tucson and they will come!”) Barb’s motto, “Retired life in Quail Creek is good!”
Twenty-three Veterans of the Korean War, Vietnam and Desert Storm are lifting off at 4:00 a.m. at the gate for Washington DC tomorrow, October 27th at Tucson International Airport. Come early to see them off.
They return Monday, October 29th at 7:00 (8:00 p.m. by the time they deplane). It’s a wonderful experience to welcome them home.
Thank you for supporting our Veterans.
You are invited to come to the first organizational meeting for the baby shower at the Kino Conference Room on November 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Committee is open to any member of TWOQC and new members are encouraged to attend. For more information contact Kathi Krieg @ 520-625-5419.
