President’s Message
We are in a very busy time of year for TWOQC. Actually, our entire year is busy! Did you realize that over 170 members volunteered for some event or activity in 2019? Many of those members volunteered for two or more activities. While much of our focus and talk right now is on the upcoming Fashion Show to benefit the American Cancer Society, work is on-going throughout our organization. If you are looking for something new to experience or a way to get involved, please consider being a volunteer. You have a skill we need. Feel free to fill out our volunteer online form or contact me at president@womenqc.com for suggestions.
Next week TWOQC’s Board of Directors will return to the process of building our strategic plan. The plan is designed to identify goals and a course of action for the next three years. I am committed to keeping the membership informed during this process and to providing as much transparency as possible about decisions we make. In the future we will be making summary versions of Board minutes and budgetary information available online to our membership. I hope by doing so more members will be encouraged to become involved and assume leadership positions in TWOQC.
Scholarship Fund Lecture Next Week
On Thursday, February 13, we will travel back over 50 million years to a time when three large tropical freshwater lakes occupied what is now southwestern Wyoming, northeastern Utah and northwestern Colorado. In his talk titled, “Crocodiles, Stingrays and Bats, Oh My!”, geologist Jerome Montgomery will share the process of recovering the fossilized remains of the creatures who inhabited the area so long ago. The lecture is at 7 PM in the Madera Clubhouse Crystal Ballroom and is open to the public. Tickets are $5 and are available at the Concierge Desk (check only, payable to TWOQC Charity Account), and at the door (cash or check). Proceeds benefit TWOQC Scholarship Fund.

Membership News
SHARE YOUR IDEAS FOR SMALL GROUP GATHERINGS
As The Women of Quail Creek continues to grow larger in membership numbers, it becomes more difficult to get to know each other, make new friends and continue our mission of social engagement. This year we are inviting new and old members to join a team to explore ideas on ways we can conduct smaller events with the intent of expanding interactions. Ideas might include – birthday month lunches, wine tastings, learning a new game or craft. We need you to help generate ideas. If you would be interested in joining a brainstorming session, please contact Becky Ashin, presidentelect@womenqc.com. As soon as we have a team together, we’ll set up a meeting.
NEW MEMBER WELCOME PARTIES – Have you attended one yet?
We welcomed 22 new members at two New Member Welcome Parties held in January. What a great group of incoming women! NOTE: If you joined TWOQC in the last half of 2019 and have not yet attended a Welcome Party, please contact Barb Hunsinger at membership@womenqc.com. She will put you on the list for a future party to be held in the next couple of months!
THANK YOU, MEMBERSHIP VOLUNTEERS!
A BIG shout out to the enthusiastic volunteers who assisted with membership check-in at the January meeting: Elaine Culbertson, Janice Messer, Joanne Nash, Mary Smith, and Patty Zatkin. We appreciate you.

Recognizing Women’s History
As an organization of women in Quail Creek, it seems appropriate that we recognize events that have shaped history for women, whether in the United States or in other countries. On February 12, 1920, Arizona became the 31st state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, eventually giving women the right to vote. Seems like something important to recognize during this 100th anniversary year.
