∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴
I’ve been thinking a great deal about communication recently. Growing up, I lived in a tiny rural town in Iowa. Life seemed so simple in the 1950’s and 60’s. I remember getting giggly when I received a post card from Grandma as she visited friends in South Dakota. And then there was the time I spent hours writing a letter to my cousin who was serving on the USS Enterprise. I walked down to our post office, where I proudly bought a six-cent stamp and amazed that the tiny piece of paper would allow my letter to travel the world to find him. Then there was the time when my dog received a birthday card with the envelope simply addressed to Dino, Hudson, Iowa. Sweet.
And now, we have email. It’s easy, fast, convenient, and at the touch of our fingers. Yet, I find that communicating face-to-face or at least on the phone, brings me a sense of pure satisfaction that I cannot find by reading text. As I sit and write this, I realize how much I miss my friends who are considered ‘snowbirds’. I miss seeing their faces, listening to their laughter, and enjoying their company. Wherever you may be this summer, may you find a way to connect and communicate with your best buddies.
Speaking of communication, TWOQC has launched the use of GroupSpot to stay connected with our members. GroupSpot is an app on your phone, iPad, or on your computer to discover upcoming TWOQC events and activities, sign up for those events, and keep in touch with members. If you are a current member, please look for an email dated July 1 that describes the steps to become a part of our GroupSpot family. We don’t want you to miss out on any of our upcoming happenings.
In the meantime, enjoy each other, your families, your friends both new and old. And perhaps send a postcard, draft an email or call someone. It will make their day.
Debi Gutknecht
TWOQC President-Elect as Acting President
The Community Outreach Committee is collecting gift cards for gas, fast food/Starbucks or Dutch Bros, and grocery stores to benefit families in Sahuarita and Green Valley whose children with cancer are being treated at Banner’s Children Hospital in Tucson. These families often make daily trips to Tucson. Gift cards from $10 – $20 make a difference.
If you live outside of the Quail Creek community and would like to donate gift cards or send a check, please mail to: TWOQC, PO Box 395, Green Valley, AZ 85614. Make checks payable to: TWOQC, with Community Outreach written in the “memo line”.
If you are a member or Quail Creek resident reading this, you may drop off your gift cards to Roxanne Housley’s home (address is available in the HOA Member Directory). There will be a container for cards on her entryway table.
Gift card collections will run through August 31.

∴ MEMBERS SECTION ∴ On July 1, 2024, TWOQC announced and invited members to join the
organization’s new members-only communication platform, GroupSpot. The GroupSpot App allows The Women of Quail Creek to streamline communications on-the-go while providing a central hub for programs posted on the events calendar, Executive Board announcements, committee activity, and more.
We are up and running in GroupSpot. Members can view the GS Calendar for upcoming events, and if members add their email address in their GroupSpot Profile, a notification is emailed as soon as an event is posted so members can promptly sign up. If you are a Quail Creek female resident, join TWOQC to participate in our events and programs. It has been a hot and quiet summer, but we do still continue to offer these monthly rotations:
