∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴

with a little help from my friendsThere’s an old song by the Beatles that says, “I’ll get by with a little help from my friends”. Just think about the power in those ten words. In fact, I have been the grateful recipient of that ‘little help’ over the past few weeks.

Both my husband and I have had a few health scares a couple of weeks apart. And with that little help, I got by. I had a sweet family a few doors down who stood next to me as the ambulance drove away and offered kind words and reassurance. A dear friend dropped what she was doing and didn’t hesitate to drive me to the hospital. I had a wonderful neighbor who, every few days, brought over delectable corn bread, homemade sourdough loaves, heart-warming soups, and the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten. Caring friends kept close tabs on me and sent messages of love and strength through phone calls, texts and personal visits. Over and over, I was reminded of the amazing community of compassionate, altruistic, and tenderhearted individuals that surround me. And, I thank each of you and am grateful for your support.

So, as I think about support, do you know who we support as an organization?

  • We support our members. If our members are aware of a member who is experiencing a hardship, contact our Secretary, Joan Brown, and she will send a card of encouragement.
  • Our members support the organization. In the near future, we will have elections for new Board members. If our members are interested or if members know of a TWOQC member who might be that person who can support TWOQC by running for office, contact me.
  • TWOQC supports young women with the awarding of scholarships and specific local charities.

Please consider how you can support our wonderful TWOQC. I think the Beatles were right. We’ll “get by with a little help from our friends”. And it may be the only way that we will get by.

Debi Gutknecht
TWOQC President-Elect as Acting President

∴ COMMUNITY OUTREACH ∴

quill-sign-guestbook-animation-4 transparent thank youThe Community Outreach Committee would like to thank those living in the Quail Creek community and outside our area for your generous gift card donations to support Courtney’s Courage. We have collected 70 cards totaling $1,190. We can only imagine the happy faces when Mom or Dad stop into Dairy Queen and surprise their child (and accompanying sibling) coming home from a cancer treatment to ice cream. Your gift cards included restaurants, grocery stores, shopping (Target), gas and movie theatres. Thank you for your support!

∴ SCHOLARSHIP ∴  2024 Javelina Hoedown · Tues., October 22 (4-8pm)

A Dancing Javelina BoarThe Javelina Hoedown is happening next month in the Madera Clubhouse in Quail Creek. This is the major annual fundraising event sponsored by The Women of Quail Creek to benefit the Scholarship Program.

The Hoedown is open to everyone! Members and non-members, residents and non-residents are invited! Tickets are $55 per person, which includes dinner, dancing and lots of fun! Tickets usually sell out so don’t wait to get yours! (Ticket sales information is below.)

Festivities include …an absolutely yummy Chuckwagon Buffet dinner, complete with Pulled Pork, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Cornbread and more. There will be dancing galore to the sound of a live band, Hardscrabble Road. And, let’s not forget the Western Photo Booth.

Along with all the fun …there will be lots of opportunities to support TWOQC Scholarships: a 50/50 Raffle, and the Silent Auction offering unique items, one-of-a-kind experiences (gourmet dinners, bourbon tastings and private concerts), and a varied assortment of gift cards from local businesses all around Green Valley and Tubac.
