∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴
Can you believe how quickly this year is going by? It seems like we were just waiting for that beautiful dry heat that we love to boast about in Arizona. And now, we are basking in the delightful warm fall and winter weather that brought so many of us to our tranquil Quail Creek. I always loved the fall growing up in Iowa and most recently in Idaho. The trees developed an awe-inspiring golden hue with bits of crimson entwined among the branches. Remember the great fun we had, first, raking the leaves, jumping into the massive pile, giggling the entire time, and then re-raking once again. That last part was Dad’s only requirement, and of course, he was right. I smile as I think about the weeks of preparation for Halloween trying to assemble some sort of costume out of the clothing in my parent’s closet or using items found in the garage or basement. The costume that remains a memory for me included Mom’s white pants, Dad’s white over-sized
sweatshirt, the once-white gloves from the garage, white talcum powder on my face and hair. What was I, you ask? I don’t know! But I can safely say that I was warm and, still, the recipient of plenty of caramelized apples, homemade cookies and candy bars from dear neighbors in my sweet little town of Hudson.
And now, here I am in my, shall we say, golden years and I am still looking forward to the fall. Part of that is due to the amazing upcoming events. The Women of Quail Creek has plenty in store for all of you! Check out the Javelina Hoedown to benefit our Scholarship work. Continue reading to find out how the Community Outreach Committee is helping those in our valley with needs to make their fall a bit cozier. And, of course, there is plenty of small and large group events happening, including the TWOQC Open House occurring in November, where new and seasoned members can come and learn more about our wonderful organization. Bring a friend. We’d love to welcome another new member. [Calendar]
Enjoy your fall and I look forward to seeing you in the near future.
Debi Gutknecht
TWOQC President-Elect as Acting President
The Community Outreach Committee will be collecting items to support Genesis House Shelter in Green Valley that houses abused women and their children. The home is secluded and can house up to 26 residents. Their youngest resident was a newborn and their oldest 86 years.
Genesis House has a Wish list prepared of basic supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, body wash, body lotions, cleaning supplies and non-perishable foods. In addition, they need new twin-size bed sheets and pillow cases. We will be collecting items in November.

∴ SCHOLARSHIP ∴

You may have heard that we launched the 2024-25 Matching Funds Program in September. A group of generous donors has offered $40,000 in a 2 for 1 match. You may have already received a personal invitation, by mail, to join this effort and if you have already sent in a contribution, we THANK YOU!
If you have not already contributed and would like to help us fund scholarships, you may send a check of any amount to TWOQC Scholarships, P.O. Box 395, Green Valley AZ 85614 or please contact Deb Melton, Director of Scholarships, at debwpski@hotmail.com for more information.
