∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴ Happy New Year!
As I step back and reflect upon the year that has just flown by, I am in awe. How can it be that some events that seemed like catastrophes at the time are now just a mere passing in time? How much does our mind set create peace or frantic notions? Do the people that we engage with make any difference as to how we see our circumstances and our lives passing before our eyes?
I was watching an amazing movie the other day – A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. It is the story of a journalist who was set on finding the ‘real’ Mr. Rogers, the famous writer/creator of the children’s program Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. I loved that TV program and my sons and I watched it religiously. I can understand why the journalist was certain that Mr. Rogers could not be as good and righteous as he appeared to be. Who could be that exceptional? Yet, time and a developed friendship showed that these angels do exist.
In one point in the movie, Fred Rogers asked the journalist to stop and reflect. The dialogue continued: “Take a moment and think about all those people who loved us into being.” At this holiday season perhaps it’s a beautiful time for all of us to take a moment, just one minute of silence, and reflect upon those who loved us into being… loved us into being. Isn’t that profound!
I know that I continue to have friends and family members who love me into being. This past year has been proof of that. And I am eternally grateful to those of you who have taken the time to be my friend.

TWOQC President-Elect as Acting President
The Community Outreach Committee is grateful for the outpouring of support for Genesis House Shelter in Green Valley. In addition to more than 700 household and personal items collected, we also received checks that will give us an opportunity to purchase items for residents and their children over the Christmas holiday.
The committee continues to receive gift cards to benefit Courtney’s Courage. One donor who lives outside of the Quail Creek community wrote, “Your organization is such a blessing. I’m glad to hear the gift cards are making kids smile.” On December 16, the committee presented a check to Courtney’s Courage Founder in the amount of $5,675. We are grateful to all of you who supported our efforts with your generous donations.

The Programs Committee has been busy celebrating the holiday season. We just held our annual holiday luncheon with a delightful fashion show and a great occasion to visit and share stories and laughter with our TWOQC friends. Then, we looked to the skies at the Science Center and Planetarium for an exploration of music and customs specific to the Christmas season.
In the new year, our members will have many opportunities to look forward to including a trip to the Nogales Border Patrol Station. Or if one prefers to explore through the pages of a book, be sure to check out our Third Friday Book Club.
And as always, the only way to sign up for our wonderful TWOQC events is through the GroupSpot app. If you need help with GroupSpot, be sure to talk with our President for advice and assistance.
