∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴

I just love a good movie, and my latest find was called, The Life List. It is a glorious story about a young woman who wrote a Life List at age 13 and is now ready to fulfill her list. It’s funny, dramatic and pulls at the heart strings. It made me stop and think about my Life List. First Question: Did I ever create one? I don’t think so. I am not sure why…. other than I might have been of the mindset that whatever happens in my life is good enough. Since retirement, I have thought more about a Life List. Although I may not have written some of these events down in list form, I am rather excited about my journey since moving to Quail Creek.
Here are a few things I am pleasantly surprised to have completed and would have been on my Life List:
- Being fearless in making new friends out of what could have been casual acquaintances.
- Traveling to foreign countries with a little trepidation, but a strong desire to experience the culture and enjoy the food.
- Explore my inner artist. I have now painted several portraits and abstract paintings and even sold one for actual money.
- I have performed on-stage in plays and choral performances with a joy and apprehension that I did not know even existed.
- I have cooked a meal for six people who paid an unbelievable amount which served as a donation to TWOQC’s Scholarship Fund. My boys would love this one as it did not include Tuna and Noodles (their favorite).
- I have authored a short story which was actually published. I also have a rejection letter from a publishing company. Oh, the ups and downs of an author.
- I have held leadership positions in two differing organizations and loved every moment of each. Yes, TWOQC happens to be one of the two.
- I’ve learned to play golf and not be embarrassed by my lack of skill but to enjoy the ride.
So, it is important to note, that not all of these items were completed with high levels of expertise or talent. Was I fearful at the beginning of each one? YES. But each was done with delight and a deep sense of satisfaction. It’s time for me to add to my Life List again. I wonder what it will include.
Next Questions: Do you have a Life List? Does one item on your list include leadership in TWOQC? Have you shared your list with anyone? If not, I would be curious to know what you are considering. Send me an email. I’d love to hear to from you.
Here’s to an adventurous and joyful life journey.
Warmly,
Debi Gutknecht

TWOQC Scholarship Awards Celebration is the culmination of a year-long effort to help young women further their education by granting scholarships. This year we had more applicants than ever before. A total of 75 young women applied for help with tuition expenses.
On May 14, we will be awarding 27 of them a scholarship of up to $3,500 each. You were part of this effort if you contributed by attending the Javelina Hoedown or donating to the Scholarship Matching Fund or funded one of the Named Scholarships. You’re invited! Thank you for your contribution. ♥
We invite you to attend Awards Night and meet the winners, hear their inspiring stories, and celebrate with them. Awards Night is open to the public so bring a friend. ♥ Hope to see you there! ♥

The Community Outreach Committee is supporting Sahuarita Parks and Recreation by collecting art supplies for teens who will be working on a large collaborative painting on May 3.
To make their painting a reality, we are collecting acrylic paints, paint brushes, tarps, painter’s tape, paper towels, plastic plates and disposable gloves.
Items can be dropped off at 549 N Eagle Rock Drive, or 1908 E Longspur Place. Monetary donations are also appreciated and can be mailed to:
