∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴
I’ve been very contemplative lately, thinking about the cycles of life.
On a recent trip to Italy, I was able to see evidence of cycles of life that have happened over thousands of years. I saw the oldest arena in Italy with its two-thousand-year-old arches and granite seats shined to a high gloss from years of use. And across the street, there was a shiny new McDonald’s. How can that not make one stop and think about change and cycles of life?
I’ve recently experienced the end of a life cycle as I lost a very good friend who inspired many of us to live a life of joy and adventure. I miss my friend. And, yet, as I sit outside each morning to enjoy my cup of coffee, I see a new cycle of life as nature changes from winter to spring and now into summer. Flowers are blooming. The young tree in my backyard is spreading new limbs with grace and determination. The hummingbirds are flirting with each other and the sight of new life in the desert is everywhere if one takes the time to notice. And with this new cycle, I am given a bit of solace.
In much the same way, the twenty-seven young women who were recently awarded TWOQC scholarships are about to experience a change in the cycle of their lives as they pursue educational endeavors and challenges. It brings joy to my heart, knowing that The Women of Quail Creek has had a small part in assisting these individuals move forward in their cycle of life.
A few words have come to my mind. I believe they are appropriate as I contemplate life: Be fluid. Be like water. Flow around the obstacles in the cycle of life (the philosophy of Bruce Lee).
I wish you all a glorious May and a stupendous summer as we flow like water into our next phase of 2025.
Warmly,
Debi Gutknecht

If you missed attending the 10th TWOQC Scholarship Awards Celebration, then you missed an inspiring evening! On May 14 about 200 TWOQC members, local residents, and scholarship recipients and their families gathered in the Madera Clubhouse ballroom and watched as 27 young women were awarded scholarships from The Women of Quail Creek. TWOQC Scholarship Committee, of about 33 TWOQC members, work all year to make these awards possible. [2025 Scholarship Awards Celebration]
Since we began awarding scholarships in 2016, to date TWOQC has awarded 127 scholarships with a cumulative total of $341,200! Several of those in the audience shed a tear as they learned the stories of these deserving young women and their pursuit for education beyond high school. This year’s recipients are working toward degrees and careers in the medical field, marketing, accounting, and local government. They are all truly inspiring!
Thank you to all those who have contributed time, energy and money to make it possible for us to help others in this way. Your generosity inspires me too!
Hope to see you at the TWOQC Scholarship Awards next year in May, 2026.

The Community Outreach Committee contributed art supplies to Sahuarita Parks & Recreation for the completion of a large mural. Students from the Sahuarita Teens Advisory Council painted approximately 30-45 12×12” canvases that will be placed on a larger canvas and displayed at La Villita Community Center. In addition to the requested supplies we provided, we also received several checks to purchase additional items. We are grateful to our community and friends outside of Quail Creek for their donations.
