Final Friday Morning Message for 2017
My sincere thank you to our members that have served with me on the board for the 2016/2017 term. These ladies have been a valuable asset to your board. I would also like to thank the committee chairs and their committees for their tireless work. Finally, a few ladies that work “behind the scenes” to make us look great – Marianne Cobarrubias, Webmaster; Eileen Sykora, Photographer; and Mary Lehman, Historian.
After serving as your President for the past two years I can’t say enough wonderful things about the women in this organization. You all come together to create opportunities within our community for and with each other.
I am grateful for my experience as your President and at the same time excited to hand the position over to your new President for 2018 – Pam Rodgers.
Please allow me to introduce your TWOQC 2018 Board effective January 1, 2018:
- Pam Rodgers – President
- Pat Neel – President Elect for 2019
- JoAnn Haberer – 1st VP/Publicity
- Angie Werner – 2nd VP/Membership
- Nancy Jacobs – Treasurer
- Sue Obremski – Secretary
- Kathe Alves – Programs
- Carol Mutter – Past President/Community Relations
2018 Fashion Show
Nancy Jacobs has Fashion Show tickets for sale. You may buy individual seats, groups or a table for ten. Please have a list of names ready to give Nancy when you make your purchase. Tickets are $25 each and will be sold in the Madera Clubhouse lobby on Sunday, December 17 from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Raffle basket donations are now being accepted for the February 7th luncheon to benefit the American Cancer Society. Individual items can be added to other baskets. Re-gift what Santa gave you. Pick up something extra while you are doing the Christmas shopping. Make something special. Make up a theme basket such as a garden, pasta, pet, sports. Empty baskets and filling will also be appreciated. For drop off or pick-up of items, contact Carol Shelton (fashionshow@womenqc.com) or Ginny Hutcheson (vhutcheson@msn.com).
You may want to sponsor a loved one who is traveling their cancer journey, memorialize someone who has lost their cancer battle, or sponsor a business or family. Table signs, track signs and team T-shirt ads are available at certain levels.
For those who wish to sponsor a table at the luncheon please use this Commitment Form. The sponsorship donations for $150 and $250 include track signs at the Relay event at Rancho Resort on April 14. The $250 sponsorship also includes the designated name of your choice listed on the team T-shirts that we will wear all day at the Relay event. For those who only want a Table sign, the sponsorship fee is a $100 donation. For any questions please contact Ginny (vhutcheson@msn.com) or Carol (fashionshow@womenqc.com).
YOTO Holiday Cheer
We can’t say enough about the joy on the faces of the YOTO staff and volunteers when 250+ holiday bags were delivered to their headquarters after Monday’s luncheon. Nicola Hartmann, CEO of YOTO, has now dubbed us the “spicy women of cheer”.
The heart of the YOTO committee members are overflowing with joy and pride from the love and care shown by members of TWOQC and other caring members of the Quail Creek community. Thank you all for your generosity and your support.
Diane Quinn wants to publicly thank the team that helped make this event and all YOTO supported events successful this year. Members of the committee (in alphabetical order) are: Pat Bencic, Kathy Berry, Jane Bottlinger, Christy Caldwell, Joyce Clark, Jane Gold, Cindy Hogg, Sue Ann Obremski, Jeanne Stevens, Jo-Ann Spencer, and Susan Struthers. It’s all here: Holiday Luncheon Photos & YOTO Gift Bags
Do You Know What You’ve Done?
Thanks to your generosity and support, the Scholarship Committee has raised enough money to distribute 2 scholarships to graduating female high school students and 2 scholarships to Women in Transition.
Yay to all of you! But, if you are still not finished shopping? Take heart, the scholarship committee has you covered.
Contact Pat Neel (625-4476) for Aprons (tavern/craft size $15, standard size $18), thermal totes ($7 ea or 3 for $20), wine totes ($4 ea or 3 for $10) all with the cute TWOQC logo.
A great way to commemorate someone’s birth or anniversary year are the Bing & Grondahl annual plates. They are available for sale at $10 each. Pilsner glasses ($8). Both are available from Peggy McGee (pastpresident@womenqc.com).
All items are cash or check (if by check, please make payable to TWOQC Charity Account).
What Else Has Been Accomplished in 2017?
You all deserve praise for your contributions of time, talents, and dollars during 2017. Together TWOQC have donated over $14K, more than 10K items, and hundreds of pounds of food and personal items to the charities we support.
And, I can’t even begin to count up all the hours of time that so many of you have contributed. Here are more details on some of these contributions.
Gingerbread Man Escapes!
Someone may have ended up with one extra Gingerbread Man from the luncheon or forgot they needed to turn in ticket to receive one. Therefore, one has “escaped.”
If you happen to have found one or ended up with an extra one please contact Carol (president@womenqc.com) and she will be glad to pick it up and deliver it to the rightful owner.
Homeless Veterans & Hospitalized Veterans
Wow! What a surprise to see all the donations for the homeless and hospitalized veterans at the luncheon on Monday. With the generosity shown for the YOTO students, we didn’t expect to see so many things for the veterans. Elves Laura Colbert and Peggy McGee delivered everything to the VA this week. All that wrapping paper will be put to good use as they prepare for the party for the hospitalized veterans schedule for next week.
Receipts for Clothing Drive
The VA reports that all the letters were mailed out for those who requested a receipt for the clothing drive on October 21. If you did not receive your letter, please contact Peggy McGee (pastpresident@womenqc.com) and she will track it down.
2018 Membership Dues
Thank you to all of you that paid for your renewal of your dues for 2018 at the luncheon. For those of you who have not paid your 2018 Membership Dues the $25 fee is due by December 31, 2017.
Applications for new members and renewals for current members are available on the website. You may print from the website or pick a form up from the TWOQC slot in the hallway of the Madera Clubhouse. When the form is complete please drop it with your check in the box at Angie’s front door or mail it to Angie Werner at 1924 E. Orinda Lane. For any questions please contact Angie (membership@womenqc.com).
