Carol Mutter was born and raised in Danville, Illinois (yes, the hometown of Dick Van Dyke, but she says she did not know him!). After a divorce, she raised her two children, worked several jobs and was a Director in Mary Kay cosmetics.
Carol relocated to Alaska in 1984 where she met Doug at her 40th birthday party. They were married in January 1992. Her family is spread out a bit with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter in Eagle, Idaho; her son, daughter-in-law, and two step-grandsons in Girdwood, Alaska; and a stepson in Kearney, Nebraska. She also has a grandson serving in the U.S. Air Force in South Korea.
Carol has been a resident of Quail Creek since January 2013 when she and husband Doug retired and relocated from Anchorage. While in Anchorage, Carol was Regional Director for a personnel agency. She owned and operated a small business; was building manager and real estate broker for a multi-story office complex; and the Director of Human Resources for a major hotel. Carol also managed commercial and multi-family residential properties in Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks, Alaska.
Carol joined TWOQC in 2013 and served as Membership Chair (2014-2015), then President for two years (2016-2017). She now serves on the Board as Past President/Community Relations. In addition to volunteering for TWOQC, Carol enjoys a variety of crafts, travelling and visiting family and friends, reading, writing, and tending to her home in Quail Creek.
Thank you to all who wrote letters to the veterans on the May Honor Flight. Your enthusiasm and prayers meant a lot to the vets.
Our next Honor Flights will be in September and October. Please begin writing notes of “thanks for your service” etc. The dates, names and number of veterans on each flight will be available closer to the time of the flight.
What to get dad or husband? Something he will appreciate, something that says “I know who you are and what you like.” The scholarship committee has an idea or two.
Does he like to BBQ? How about an apron with pockets for holding his BBQ tools? Or, what about a wine carrier; you can add the wines he likes.
Interested in the perfect gift? Contact Peggy McGee at pjmcgee@cox.net or (520) 207-6188 (if no answer, leave a message).
