With over 1,700 students to serve, Youth On Their Own needs a lot of blankets and gift cards to warm the hearts of students this holiday season. Even if you did not get a card prepared by the YOTO Committee your help is still needed.
Please buy a warm blanket or fluffy throw and a $25 gift card. If you are attending the holiday luncheon on Dec 10, bring those items with you. Don’t wrap them; we can take care of that for you.
Not planning to attend the luncheon? Bring the blanket and card to Diane Quinn’s house, 2276 E Skywalker Way before December 9 and the committee will make sure it makes it to YOTO.
“Oops! I went home with my name tag on!”
If you attended Ladies Night Out and got home only to find you were still wearing your name tag, we would SO appreciate it if you could drop it off in the box at Barb Hunsinger’s house. This ensures that we will have it for you at the next TWOQC event. Her address is: 2197 E Desert Squirrel Ct. Thank you!!
Thank you to all who have completed your TWOQC 2019 membership renewals. To renew please MAIL your 2019 membership renewal check ($25, payable to: TWOQC) to Angie Werner, 1924 E Orinda Lane. DO NOT DROP AT HER DOOR. If your information has not changed, place a note on your check stating, “no changes”. If your information has changed, please fill out the membership form. Member Spotlight: Eileen Sykora
Eileen and her husband, Harry, were both born and raised on the south side of Chicago. They have been married for 43-years and for 30 of those years the couple owned a home in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. They are proud parents of a son and daughter-in-law, who gave them their beautiful grandson, Aiden. Eileen worked for 30-years as an X-Ray Technician (hence, her mail address as: queenofxray).
The couple moved to Quail Creek in 2005 and have both thoroughly enjoyed their time here. Eileen has tried many different activities including making stained glass which she enjoys. She is a member of the Quail Creek Air Gun Club and enjoys shooting air rifles.
In April, she came in first place in the first Annual Saguaro Classic Gunslinger event. So, members… don’t mess with her!
Eileen admits she has a love of nature and wildlife. The couple enjoys hiking at Madera Canyon where they watch for the different bird species in that area. She has been a Docent at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum for the past 10 years. One of her main interests there is handling the raptors (on the glove) to show to the public.
Eileen is TWOQC’s club photographer which she enjoys very much. She admits it has been a pleasure to contribute a little something to the club and always has been impressed by the scope of the charitable endeavors our ladies have accomplished.
Are You Ready to Volunteer?
Plans for the annual ACS Fashion Show February 25th are well underway. This important event helps save lives of people in our community and around the world. We need many volunteers for one of the largest TWOQC events. If you volunteered last year, please consider helping again. Consider one of the following as an opportunity:
- Help collect items for the silent auction and basket raffle – all it takes is talking with 3 people you know (see “3 x 383 = SUCCESS”) – YES, we currently have 383 members in TWOQC!
- Create a themed basket or contact Diane Gordon at 520-399-1372 or bydandcolorado@comcast.net to donate money toward this effort
- Hostess/Liaison to guide participants and answer questions on event day
We have an enthusiastic planning team this year with the aim to make this event fun! To volunteer, please email Lisa Johnson (fashionshow@womenqc.com and be sure to include your area of interest and contact information. You may also fill out the short VOLUNTEER FORM. Thank you!
The Baby Shower Committee is ramping up for a busy winter in preparation for the shower next year on Saturday, May 18th. This year’s baby shower theme is “Woodland Wonderland”.
The next meeting is December 5th, 10:00, Kino Conference Room. New members are encouraged to attend. You are invited to a meeting to find out about their work. Please contact Kathi Krieg at babyshower@womenqc.com for more information.
HOT OFF THE PRESS… four moms-to-be have asked to be part of the Shower. GREAT NEWS!
A sincere thank you to Peggy McGee, Army veteran and TWOQC member, for laying The Women of Quail Creek wreath at the Green Valley Cemetery service on Veteran’s Day. The Neel’s (Pat & Jim) were there for support.
TWOQC loves and appreciates all veterans.
