∴ DIANE’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴
April is upon us, and it is time to award TWOQC’s Scholarships to high school senior women and women in transition. The Scholarship Awards Program is on April 24th at 6:30pm at the Madera Clubhouse’s Crystal Ballroom. It is an inspiring evening to learn about these amazing women and their goals. Due to the generosity of the Quail Creek and Green Valley/Sahuarita communities, this will be a record year for our scholarships. If you are in the area, please plan on attending this wonderful event open to the public.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, TWOQC is continuing its fundraising efforts. The Funding and Giving Committee is organizing a time for giving and is selling the much-anticipated Jim Click raffle tickets. Check out the details below.
As we move into the warmer weather, the Programs Committee is offering some fun smaller events for the coming months. Stay tuned for the event announcements!
The Women of Quail Creek has a lot to offer. We love welcoming new members!
Supplies for Seniors
On April 10, members of the Community Outreach Committee delivered hygiene, paper and cleaning supplies for 22 low-income seniors at Michelle Manor. They also added $5 to each of the attendees’ Laundry card. The Michelle Manor manager provided cookies to make the event a fun experience for the residents. TWOQC appreciates the many donations received to make the project a success.
The book drive for Sopori Elementary School in Amado, sponsored by the Community Outreach Committee, will run through April 30. Books are needed for grades Pre-K – 1st; 2nd and 3rd; and 4th and 5th. The Book Shop, 231 W. Esperanza Blvd., Suite B, Amazon, Costco and others carry a selection of books for these age groups.
- The Committee asks that the donated books be new.
- Drop-off points for the books are in the Madera Clubhouse by Member Services; 1427 E Blue Granite Drive; and 1908 E Longspur Place.
- Cash or checks payable to TWOQC with Book Drive in the Memo Line will also be accepted.
Letters for Honor Flight Veterans
Many thanks to all who wrote the over 1000 letters for the 70 veterans who will be going on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. from April 23-25. These letters express honor and respect for the military service of these veterans. While in Washington D.C. these veterans will tour the war memorials dedicated to their service. Their travel and tour expenses are fully funded by Honor Flight Southern Arizona.
Carin Kaiser collected the letters from TWOQC volunteers and the Green Valley Chapter of Military Officers Association of America. There will be another Honor Flight in the fall for which TWOQC will invite all Quail Creek residents to write letters of gratefulness to the veterans, many of whom feel their service was not appreciated.
TWOQC’s YANA: New Mission Statement
The Committee refined their mission statement to read:
We are a resource group of The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) committed to providing helpful information and practical resources to female Quail Creek residents who have recently lost a spouse or life partner.
∴ FUNDING & GIVING ∴
April 29 Update — NEW ♥ Jim Click Raffle Tickets Sales Date! Both Jim Click and 50/25/25 Raffle Tickets will be sold at the Grill on Sunday April 30th from 10:30 – noon. Please come by and see what’s going on. The monies raised will benefit our charity activities and local charities.
Dear Community and Friends of The Women of Quail Creek:
As you are aware The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) have hosted a Fashion Show each year to raise funds for our charity activities. This year Dillard’s in Tucson was contacted to provide the fashions needed for the 2023 Fashion Show. Due to a change in policy on the part of Dillard’s Stores, we were informed recently that Dillard’s will no longer be able to provide the fashions needed for the show. This policy change states that all shows will take place in the Dillard’s store and fashions will not be transported to locations outside the store area. Because of time restraints, this has left us with no recourse but to cancel our 2023 Fashion Show.
Because TWOQC was under the impression that there was a customary verbal contract with Dillard’s (as we’ve done in the past) to do the 2023 Fashion Show, the application requests for financial assistance were sent out to the local charities. Losing this major fundraising event has greatly impacted our charity funds leaving no other recourse but to curtail our donations or provide our charities with no funding for 2023.
The only alternative to this loss is to turn to you (our members, Quail Creek residents, and friends of TWOQC outside of our local community) for your support. Please consider the monies you would have spent to attend the Fashion Show and participate in the additional activities offered to make a generous donation for these charities.
All donations may be sent to Nancy A Jacobs, 2312 E Mayview Dr., Green Valley, AZ 85614. This request will be open until June 30th, 2023. Please make your check out to TWOQC. Your help is greatly needed and duly appreciated.
TWOQC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. EIN 87-3110178. Your donation may be tax deductible. Thank you for your support.
