∴ DIANE’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴ Amazing Scholarship Awards Night!
On April 24th, The Women of Quail Creek and the Scholarship Committee awarded over $50,000 in scholarships. Nine high school seniors from Sahuarita, Walden Grove, and Rio Rico High Schools were selected. In addition there were eight Women in Transition Scholarships also awarded that evening. Of the 17 Scholarships, 6 were Memorial Scholarships and the remaining were made up from money obtained through TWOQC’s Javelina Hoedown. The memorial donations were restricted by the donors to be used only for scholarships. The funds raised through the Hoedown were also restricted for only scholarships.
The Women of Quail Creek as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is not able to direct funds apart from what the donor required. These funds are considered Restricted.
Photos and slideshow presentation of the Awards Night (posted by our club photographer, Lois Haglund), can be found in the Photo Gallery on our website, or simply click this link. Thank you, Lois.
We are now raising funds for 5 charities that have made requests to our organization. The Spring Fashion Show is one of the vehicles for raising these dollars. Unfortunately, the Fashion Show was cancelled due to the sponsors withdrawal from the event. Details on how you can contribute and who are the 5 charities are set out below. Please consider donating to TWOQC for these very worthy charities.
HOW & WHERE TO DONATE ::: All F&G charitable donations may be sent to Nancy A Jacobs, 2312 E Mayview Dr., Green Valley, AZ 85614. This request will be open until June 30th, 2023. Please make your check out to TWOQC. Your help is greatly needed and duly appreciated. [DONATIONS INFORMATION]
∴ COMMUNITY OUTREACH ∴ Quail Creek Residents’ Generosity Brings the “Joy of Books” to Local Elementary Students
Thanks to all Quail Creek residents who so generously supported the book drive for Sopori Elementary School in Amado. Because of your generosity the Community Outreach Committee was able to deliver 324 new books to the school. Three books were packed in each book bag handmade by the Quail Creek Quilt Covey and Needleworks Club for all 108 students. Paper Crafters members designed and laminated enough bookmarks for each student to receive two with the extras going to the teachers to use throughout the year. The club also donated $260 to enable the school library to buy new books for the 2023-2024 school year.
∴ FUNDING & GIVING ∴
In 2020, The Women Of Quail Creek (TWOQC) appointed an Ad Hoc Task Force to make an assessment of TWOQC’s capability to work as a fundraising organization. The result of this Task Force’s findings was the establishment of the Funding and Giving Committee (F&G). This committee was created to recommend fundraising strategies to benefit all TWOQC’s charitable concerns.
A part of the task assigned to the F&G Committee was to produce a fundraising event. In 2022, a Fashion Show was held with profits being given to local charities, most of whom had completed applications requesting financial assistance.
In 2023, the Fashion Show could not be held because our sponsor could not fulfill their commitment, however the valley charities had already completed their application request to TWOQC for funding assistance. As a result, the committee appealed to our members, Quail Creek residents, and friends of TWOQC outside of our local community for assistance in raising funds. To further inform our members and non-member supporters of these charity’s needs, we are providing their names and a brief outline of their individual needs.
