SUMMER LUNCHEON IN JUNE
Reserve your luncheon seat on Monday at the May 22 program!
The luncheon is Monday, June 26. Doors and bar open at 11:00. Program will begin at 11:30. Only TWOQC members and first-time guests will be sold seating at $20 each. The program will be a vintage fashion show by the «Vigilettes» from Tombstone, AZ.
The luncheon menu will be: tomato-filled with chicken salad, rosemary rolls, and for dessert: ice cream with caramel sauce/whipped cream/rolled wafer cookie. Specialty drinks are vintage cocktails at $4 each: Tom Collins, and Cuba Libre.
Please contact Nancy Jacobs at «events@womenqc.com» for reservations or you may use the online reservation form from the link below. If emailing Nancy, include: names of all members and first-time guests that you will be paying for at the time of purchase. When reserving seats/tables, please refer to this Seating Chart Layout (click chart to enlarge, or view the same «Seating Chart in PDF»).
The following seats are available: Table 5 – 7, Table 12- 2, Table 13 – 3, and Table 15 – 9. Table numbers higher than Table 15 all have 10 seats remaining. The seating chart that you will view is setup to seat 300. We will not have that many members attending so tables will be arranged to allow everyone a good view of the stage, and no one will be against a wall.
All seats/tables put “on hold” must be paid for within five (5) days of the Hold Request. Click «this link» to access the online reservation form.
HONOR FLIGHT with Kathy Mansur & Janet Haegar – Monday, May 22 at 6:30

Janet Haeger joined the U.S. Navy at 18 & served close to 7 years from 1953-1959 as a Naval Corpsman.
The Sahuarita High School Naval ROTC Honor Guard will present the colors. Members are encouraged to wear patriotic colors and bring a summer themed gift bag for a homeless veteran.
Here are some ideas your Program Committee thought would be very appreciated:
Chapstick · sunscreen · deodorant · floss · toothbrush · toothpaste · disposable razor · baseball cap · summer socks · gum · granola bars (avoid chocolate as it melts)
Please add a note to the gift bag to personalize it – thanking them for their service.
Thank you all again for your ongoing generosity to our veterans.
“WOMEN IN TRANSITION” … a New Scholarship Offer
The Scholarship Committee is excited to announce a $1,000 scholarship which is offered for a woman in transition. The idea, generated by members of our organization, is designed for a woman at least 21, living in Pima or Santa Cruz counties, and at a transition point in her life. The awardee will be assisted in pursuing post-secondary training to increase her job skills or to pursue a new skill. She will either be enrolled or accepted into an accredited technical, vocational training program, or a 2-year or 4-year college. In addition to providing financial assistance and opportunity, the scholarship will promote hope for a more secure and bright future. If you know of someone who would qualify, please direct them to «womenqc.com/scholarships». DEADLINE: May 30.
MEMORIAL DAY
TWOQC will be laying a wreath during the Memorial Day service that begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 29 (the official date for Memorial Day) at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery, 18751 S La Canada Drive. «map»
This year our own Laura Colbert will be doing the honor of laying the wreath. All are invited to the cemetery to pay respects to those veterans who have gone before us. It is recommended that you bring a lawn chair in case they run out of chairs.
2017 BABY SHOWER
Everything is packed and ready for distribution to our event tomorrow! The incredible Baby Shower Committee has outdone themselves this year with so much support and work to make this happen. We hope to have «photos» available in next week’s FMM for your enjoyment.
Thank all of you again for your contributions of baby items, blankets and money. Our military families are going to feel very blessed and pampered!
HONOR FLIGHT #23
Honor Flight #23 was postponed from April to September. Southern Arizona Honor Flight will charter an aircraft, therefore the number of veterans going to Washington DC will not be 25 but 75. As soon as the additional 50 names are available, the FMM will advise you. The (secret) “Mail Call” is one of the highlights of the trip. Please consider writing to the vets to thank them for their service and honor them.
Please bring what letters you have written to the May program and submit to Kay Robinson. For any questions you may contact Kay at «honorflight@womenqc.com».
PINK POLO SHIRTS
Shirts will be on sale for $20 each prior to the program on May 22. Checks should be made payable to TWOQC. Cash is also acceptable.
We have a variety of sizes available and will be taking orders for fall delivery if we do not have your size in stock.
FEMALE HOMELESS VETERANS NEEDS
There is going to be a stand-down for Homeless Veterans in Tucson on June 13. This is sponsored by a lot of different service organizations to include the VA. Although the VA is currently not accepting most female attire, the organizers have identified some items they could use for this event:
Career: suits, dress slacks, blouses, skirts, shoes, handbags
Casual wear: slacks, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, hats, shoes, rain gear, light weight jackets
If anyone has any of the listed items, please bring them to the program on May 22 or drop them off at Peggy McGee’s house. If you are unable to attend the program and would like to give a gift to the homeless veterans, you may also drop them at Peggy’s house, 1908 E Longspur Place. «map»
2018 FASHION SHOW
Thanks to all of those who have stepped up to volunteer for the 2018 Fashion Show slated for February 7. Team leaders are also needed for coordination of tables, greeting, helping with organization and set up & take down. A special need this year is sewing of banners. Cancer touches so many. Perhaps our effort will make a difference.
SAVE THE DATE – Clothing Drive for Homeless Veterans
