∴ DIANE’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴

I can’t believe it’s October and soon Halloween. This year is going fast. October is a very busy month with lots of programs as you can see below. In addition, it’s the month of our Javelina Hoedown on October 26th. This event is a fundraiser for our Scholarships. It is open to all in Quail Creek and the greater community. If you want to eat, dance, bid on silent auction items, or try for raffle baskets, see below on how to purchase your tickets!
As we move into November, we’re holding our annual Open House on November 13th for all women residents in Quail Creek. It is a time for our current members and prospective members to learn about our organization. There will be tables set up for many of our small groups, our committees, and, of course, Membership. They will gladly accept new members at a dues of $25, which takes you through 2024. The date, time, and location are set out below.
Our Community Outreach Committee is organizing a Holiday drive in conjunction with the Salvation Army to provide items for children ages 11 – 17. More information is provided below. In addition, we collected over 1,000 letters for the November Honor Flight. Details are also set out below.
TWOQC is in the process of obtaining candidates for our open Executive Board positions. The current openings are Director of Programs, Director of Community Outreach, Director of Publicity, Secretary, and President-Elect. Information about the jobs and who to contact is posted on GroupWorks. We would love for some of our newer members to step up and accept a nomination.
∴ FUNDING & GIVING ∴
Oct. 27, 2023 — A recap of the Javelina Hoedown will be shared in the November Monthly Message!
The 2023 Javelina Hoedown is just around the corner. On October 26th all of our efforts will come together to ensure each of you are attending the best Hoedown we can put together. Here is what we’ll have for you:
- A great buffet with pulled beef and pork with BBQ sauce, coleslaw, chili beans and cornbread.
- An excellent DJ who plays tunes and makes announcements about the events going on.
- Our Silent Auction has at least sixty items at this point while the Basket Raffle is running over with so many donations you will not believe it.
- Let’s not forget the 50/25/25 Raffle as this has seen winners go home with over $500 each.
- Bar will start serving at 4pm.
- Ballroom doors open at 4:30 — so please feel free to come at 4:00, have the drink of your choice… and buy tickets, look over the items in the Basket Raffle and the Silent Auction.
- Tickets to these events will be on sale starting at 4pm. If you have questions just look for the ladies wearing the buttons and the many signs that will direct you to the various areas.
We will be very excited to see you and hope you will enjoy this 2023 Javelina Hoedown as much as you have in the past. Please don’t forget your checkbooks or cash as this is the only currency we except and remember this is for our Scholarship Charity.
In case you have not gotten your tickets for the Hoedown there are only a few seats left so please do not hesitate any longer. Watch for the sales dates in the What’s Happening email and in TWOQC’s GroupWorks, or contact Nancy at nancyajacobs@yahoo.com.
Community Outreach – TWOQC will be supporting the Salvation Army’s holiday drive for 90 youth ages 11-17 for our holiday project. We will have a virtual Giving Tree on GroupWorks starting November 3 through which TWOQC members and other Quail Creek residents may sign up. A group of people may wish to go together to purchase more high value gifts.
Collection period at the Madera Clubhouse will be from November 7-17. Alternate drop-off points will be posted in GroupWorks. Unwrapped gifts may also be brought to the holiday luncheon on December 11 (Madera Ballroom). A Salvation Army rep will pick up donations after the luncheon. Checks should be made payable to TWOQC with Salvation Army on the memo line to enable us to purchase items for which no one signs up. Checks may also be made payable to the Salvation Army.

Honor Flight – Thanks to all who took the time to write 1,000+ Dear Hero letters to the 79 veterans who will be visiting the many monuments dedicated to their military service in Washington, DC from November 9-11.

We are entering a busy season for activities and events created by The Women of Quail Creek. On-the-Go activities will visit several sites in the Tucson area including the Sonoran Glass School, the HF Coors factory, and the Jewish Museum and Holocaust Center. Both the Garden Group and In-My-Kitchen have exciting gatherings planned, and Mexican Train will have its final game date of the year in late October.
Current members should sign up for these events on Groupworks. Remember, if your plans change, change your status on Groupworks. This is a courtesy to your hostess, and it allows another member from the waitlist to take your place.
All women residing in Quail Creek are invited and encouraged to attend our OPEN HOUSE, Monday, November 13 from 1:00-3:00 in the Crystal Ballroom of the Madera Clubhouse. This is the way for both members and prospective members to learn more about what TWOQC is and what we are planning. It’s also a great time to ask questions and make suggestions.
