∴ SHARON’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴
February is traditionally the month of hearts and roses, making it the perfect time to reflect on relationships. There are relationships that we are born into and those that we develop over time either by choice or circumstance. Interactions with others shape and define who we are and allow us to explore who we can be.
Joining and becoming actively involved in an organization like The Women of Quail Creek are excellent ways to forge valuable new relationships. Purpose is found in the relationships that result from reaching out with love and kindness to others. Life’s greatest joys, as well as consolation in times of deepest sorrow, are all the result of the relationships we have with others.
In the coming months of this new year, many members of TWOQC will be transformed by new relationships as they meet and interact in small group events, are exposed to new ideas at educational program offerings, and reach out to our community through a variety of in-kind projects and educational scholarships.
Perhaps Lord Tennyson said it best: “I am a part of all that I have met.”
I would contend that they are all a part of me as well.
∴ SCHOLARSHIPS ∴ Matching Fund Goal is Met

Thank you to all who have contributed to the Scholarship Matching Fund Campaign that was launched at the Javelina Hoedown in October 2023. We have reached the goal! As you know, this is the 1st time TWOQC was approached by a group of generous donors who offered $40,100 to be matched 2-for-1 by additional donations. The campaign resulted in $60,000 being raised for TWOQC scholarships to be awarded this spring.
Applications are coming in daily and being evaluated by the committee. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the Awards Night on May 8 at 6:30 in the Madera Clubhouse Ballroom. It will be an exciting evening open to the public! We love helping other women improve their lives through education. Thank you for helping us do that.
Scholarship applications for both Women in Transition (WIT) & high school are available to be completed on TWOQC’s website: womenqc.com/scholarships. For women over 21 returning to school and needing help with tuition costs, please let her know about this opportunity and send the link to the application. For high school girls, all the information is available at the counselor’s office for Walden Grove, Sahuarita, and Rio Rico High Schools. The high school application is also on our Scholarships website page. Other questions can be sent to Deb Melton, Director of Scholarships (debwpski@hotmail.com).
Please help our furry friends at the Animal League of Green Valley (TALGV).
Representatives from TALGV and possibly some pets will be at the Quail Creek Pickleball Ramada on Tuesday, March 19 from 3-4:30 p.m. TALGV president Kim Eisele will present information on the history and mission of the Animal League, a private 501(c)(3) all volunteer, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to serving the people and pets of our community. They provide a shelter for cats and dogs and arrange adoptions of pets to qualified homes.
The Outreach Committee will be collecting donations at the event to support the mission of TALGV. Click HERE for a list of suggested donation items.
The event is being hosted by The Women of Quail Creek Community Outreach Committee. All Quail Creek residents are invited to stop by to support this worthwhile organization. Checks payable to TALGV will also be appreciated.
HONOR FLIGHT –
Please consider getting a start on Dear Hero letters to the veterans who will be going on the spring Honor Flight to Washington, DC. These men and women put their lives on the line serving in the military. A thank you for your service letter is a real morale booster for those who believe their service was not appreciated. Letters will be collected from now until the end of April.

February has the Programs Committee busy with many of TWOQC’s various groups, such as the Garden Group (lecture on desert plants care), and an On-The-Go trip to B&B Cactus Farm. In-My-Kitchen continues to be a popular event. On-The-Go groups visited the Pinata Factory (Tucson), and several members got a first-hand look at U.S. Border Patrol Station (Nogales) checkpoint operations. An excursion to Aveda Institute (Tucson) provided facials and shampoos to member participants. The Mexican Train group is still a fun monthly get together as well.
Coming in March there will be: more rock paintings (5th), On-The-Go outings (7th), In-My-Kitchen gatherings (15th), Connecting Over Coffee (10th), as well as various book groups. Watch for another game group starting soon (details will be provided in GW and in a future Monthly Message). All events will be opened for reservations on GW 2-weeks before they are scheduled.
The Programs Committee would like to hear from our members about what you would like to do in your spare time to meet and make new friends. Navigate to the About tab in GroupWorks to message the Programs Director with your ideas.
All Quail Creek women residents are invited to join TWOQC. Contact the Membership Director if you have questions. | JOIN TODAY |
