∴ DEBI’S PRESIDENTS MESSAGE ∴

recognition of members twoqcDo you remember the end of your senior year in high school? The excitement of completing part of one’s life and the eagerness to plan the next step in life’s journey. These thoughts are on the minds and in the hearts of many young women right now. And TWOQC is able to be a part of that journey!

This past year, the Scholarship Committee has been working overtime. On May 8, 2024, The Women of Quail Creek awarded twenty scholarships to deserving high school seniors and another twelve scholarships awarded to Women-In-Transition (WIT). To put this in perspective, this more than doubles the amount awarded in 2023. This amazing feat can only be accomplished through the hard work and dedication of our Scholarship Committee as well as the generous giving of our members and other supporters in our community. We are proud of this accomplishment and thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts.

It is also time to give thanks to several key members!

new leadership team mbrs R.HousleyPeggy McGee has decided to retire from her current position on the Board as Director of Community Outreach. Peggy has been involved in TWOQC for many years and served as President from 2009 to 2015. She started the Programs Committee in 2008, served as chair for several years, and is still active on the committee. Peggy also served as 3rd Vice President of Community Relations and has been on numerous committees over the years. We can’t thank her enough for sharing her boundless energy, wisdom, time, and talents. We are happy to welcome Roxanne Housley as the appointed Director of Community Outreach. Roxanne has a multitude of experiences with Community Outreach, and we look forward to her leadership and friendship.

Additionally, Carin Kaiser is leaving her Project Coordinator position as the Honor Flight Liaison and Pam Hartwell-James has been appointed as her replacement.

The generous involvement these women share with TWOQC adds to the value of our organization. Give a warm thank-you to all of these women when you see them.

Debi Gutknecht
President-Elect as Acting President

∴ SCHOLARSHIPS ∴

twoqc scholarships image♥ If you missed attending the 9th Annual TWOQC Scholarship Awards Celebration … then you missed an inspiring evening!

On May 8, about 150 people gathered in Quail Creek’s Madera Clubhouse ballroom and watched as 32 young women were awarded scholarships from The Women of Quail Creek. TWOQC Scholarship Committee, of about 33 TWOQC members, works all year to make these awards possible.

Since we began awarding scholarships in 2016, as of this year, TWOQC has awarded 100 scholarships with a cumulative total of $246,700!

Several of those in the audience shed a tear as they learned the stories of these deserving young women in our community and their pursuit for education beyond high school. They are all truly inspiring! Pictures from this year’s event (provided by Lois H., TWOQC photographer).

Thank you to all those who have contributed time, energy and money to make it possible for us to help others in this way. Your generosity inspires us all!

Hope to see you at the TWOQC Scholarship Awards next year on May 14, 2025.
