NOVEMBER MEETING
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, our next meeting will be on November 16 at 6:30 p.m. Jim Gressinger, travel writer and the publisher of Southern Arizona Guide, will talk about The Best Hidden Treasures of Southern Arizona. [… Monthly Meeting]
You may also bring donations of unopened toiletries, calendars, greeting and note cards and holiday wrapping paper to the meeting and place them at one of the tables at the back of the Ballroom. The hospitalized veterans really appreciate them.
Clipped coupons may also be dropped off at one of the tables at the back of the ballroom. Coupons for the next shipment to the two overseas bases that the club supports should expire October 15 or later. Coupons for the National Guard should expire December 10 or later. [… Coupon Prep]
Your 2016 dues, checks for $25 made payable to TWOQC, can also be paid at the meeting on the 16th. Forms are in TWOQC’s slot in the hallway as well as on the website. The Word document form on the website gives one the opportunity to type in the information. This makes it much easier for the membership and Internet team to get the email address right the first time. We also added a block on the membership form asking if you have any special talents/experience (e.g., writing, fund raising, decorating.) That information will help us if we ever need special help for one of our projects. [… Membership form]
If anyone has any baskets that we can use for our raffle for the Fashion Show to raise funds for cancer research, you may bring them to the meeting and place them on a table in the back of the Ballroom. We will start selling Fashion Show tickets just before our Holiday Luncheon. [… Fashion Show]

Our cookbook sales team did a phenomenal job of selling cookbooks at the Crafts Fair this past weekend so I am happy to report that project has officially come to an end—there are no more cookbooks! We will be presenting another $920 to Genesis House later this month. I understand a couple members may have extra books they are willing to sell—they bought more than they needed for gifts, it seems. If you missed out on a cookbook, let me know and I will link you with the right person.
Janice Swain, who designed the cover and dividers for the cookbook, and I were honored at a luncheon this past week for our efforts to support Genesis House. Patti O’Berry, founder and CEO of Genesis House mentioned several times how our $6000 donation helped them pay off the lease-to-own option of the mortgage.
L-R: Janice Swain holds her certificate and Peggy McGee holds one for The Women of Quail Creek. The certificate and photo of Janice & Peggy are posted in the photo album. [… 2015 Photo Albums]
The totes will be on sale in the lobby on November 16th from 5-6:30. The roomy totes are $7 each or 3 for $20.
If you have any change with which you are willing to part, please consider dropping it in the piggy banks we will be passing around at the meeting on the 16th. OK—we are not proud—we will also take bills and checks payable to TWOQC Charity Account.
If you won’t be at the meeting Monday evening and want a tote, please contact Scholarship Committee Chair, Pat Neel at patneel1@me.com/(520) 625-4476 or me at pjmcgee@cox.net. We both have a supply at our respective houses.
♥ TOTE SALE ♥ A special thanks to Mary Chernoski, president of the Sahuarita Educational Enrichment Foundation, for allowing us to sell our totes at the benefit basketball game/salute to veterans on November 12. Pat and Marilyn sold 14 totes and also received $53 in donations giving us another $150 in our scholarship fund. [… Scholarships]
RALLY FOR THE CURE
We received another thank you from The Rally Committee for our $200 donation for sponsoring a hole for the event on October 22. [… Rally for the Cure ‘thank-you’ note]
PROGRAM COMMITTEE
We are happy to announce that Kathe Alves and Joan Hay have joined the Program Committee.
FURNITURE FOR HOMELESS VETERANS
Anyone who has any furniture she’d liked to donate for formerly homeless veterans as they move into an apartment may call Daron Cross at 429-6867 to arrange for pick-up. Because the apartments are relatively small, they cannot accept king-size beds, triple dressers or large couches. Love seats and chairs are ideal. See the photo and article that were in the GV News. THANK YOU FROM AMBER NORGAARD
We received a nice thank you from Amber for allowing her and Sabra to provide the entertainment for our Brunch. [… Written Thank You note from Amber]
