The temperatures may be in the red zone, but our members and committees have been taking advantage of some very cool opportunities to get together to have fun, reach out, and learn.
It was a full house for TWOQC member Pam Fisher’s engaging presentation on the Literature of the Holocaust. In My Kitchen returned with a wonderful “Summer Refreshments” theme, and 25 members spent an afternoon out of the heat learning how to play Mexican Train (Photo Gallery). Looking ahead, the Programs Committee has several upcoming events sure to appeal to those seeking a pleasant way to spend a hot summer’s afternoon with friends new and old. The 3rd Friday Book Group will be meeting, and an instructive gathering to play pool is also coming up. Members can look forward to “painting and sipping” next month, as well as participating in the 2nd Annual Senior Moment Trivia Night at the end of August. September will sweep us into the busy fall season with the hugely popular Javelina Hoedown fundraiser in October (a public event).
The Membership Committee continues to put out the welcome mat for any women Quail Creek residents who would like to join TWOQC, with 16 new members joining since May. The Funding & Giving Committee held a successful 50/25/25 raffle to benefit our charities, and the Community Outreach Committee is gearing up for their 2nd annual Teacher Supply Shower.
Who says there is nothing to do in the desert in the summertime? The fastest and easiest way to meet new friends and forge lasting relationships in Quail Creek is to find your niche in TWOQC. Join today – we’d love to meet you!

The Teachers’ Supply Shower collection for educators in Sahuarita Elementary School will run from July 24 – August 13. Its goal is to get supplies needed for teachers, not students. There will be collection boxes in the Madera Clubhouse lobby, at 2197 E Desert Squirrel Court and 1422 E Blue Granite Drive. Join TWOQC in our venture to help these special educators!
Some of the items that those who teach the younger students can use include: printer/copy paper (the #1 requested item), colored pencils, construction paper, glue sticks, #2 pencils, dry erase markers, and more. The Committee asks that all supplies be new. [Printer-friendly WISH LIST]
HONOR FLIGHT This is an open invitation to all!
Please consider writing a letter to one or more of the 79 veterans going on the Honor Flight from Tucson in early November. An expression of gratitude means so much to the men and women who served in our Armed Forces. Here are a few examples to help get you started. [Letter(s): Drop-Off Location]

TWOQC HAS WINNERS! TWOQC’s Funding and Giving Committee held their drawing for the 50/25/25 Raffle on June 30th at 10:30 AM in the Madera Clubhouse coffee shop. The winning tickets were drawn accompanied by a table drum roll. The lucky winners are Carl Kozlevcar and John Studer, each will receive a check for $135.
At this time, TWOQC would like to say “Thank you” to everyone who participated. Funds raised by this raffle helped our committee achieve our goal of $4,500. Donations to our local charities will be distributed in August 2023.
