∴ PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE ∴

I want to welcome back our Snowbirds. It’s great to see you again. We are ramping up our activities now that it’s the middle of October.

As you can see below, the Javelina Hoedown is just around the corner. This fundraising event is open to all, not just our members. We hope to raise a lot of dollars for our Scholarships.

In November, the Programs Committee invites all women residents in Quail Creek (full or part-time) to our Meet & Greet Open House. See below for details.

For those not yet members, you can join now and be paid through 2023!

There is much to look forward to in the next few months and the next year.

∴ FUNDING & GIVING ∴  Javelina Hoedown UpdateA Dancing Javelina Boar

Last day for tickets: Madera Clubhouse Lobby today (Oct. 20) from 8 to 11 AM.

The Javelina Hoedown is just days away (October 26!), if you are still thinking about whether you want to attend there is possibly only one more date for ticket sales.

Our Scholarship Committee has really been busy this year, we have over 60 Silent Auction items and upwards of 40 baskets. The 50/25/25 Raffle is always a great event which you don’t have to be present to win and of course the Jim Click Raffle Tickets will be available for purchasing. The proceeds from all of these sales will support our Scholarship Awards event for 2023. These awards mean so much to both our local High School and our Women in Transition (WIT) recipients.

Click/tap this flyer for more info! So, if you are still undecided, there is a great buffet, a DJ with a wide range of tunes, Raffle Baskets, the 50/25/25 Raffle, and the Silent Auction to be won, so we really hope you will come out on the this morning (10/20) and get your ticket.

If that is not possible, a donation to Scholarship is always a gift that continues to give. FLYER

∴ COMMUNITY OUTREACH ∴

ANGEL HEART PAJAMA PROJECT — The Community Outreach Committee is sponsoring a angel heart pajama project CROPPED logocollection of pajamas and age appropriate books for the Angel Heart Pajama Project (AHPP). This Tucson based 501(c)(3) helps children in state custody. These children often go to foster-care facilities in just the clothes they are wearing. The AHPP transfers pj’s and books to the Green Valley and Sahuarita Food Banks and Valley Assistance Services for the kids going into foster care in the local area.

The Outreach Committee will be collecting new pajamas for children from ages 0 -14, (sizes 0-XXL) and children’s books for ages infant – teens. Cushy pillows are also on their Wish List. There might be some good pre-holiday sales for early shoppers. Donations will be accepted starting in November, locations to be announced.

HONOR FLIGHT — There is still time to write a “thank you for your service” letter to one or more of clipart_HonorFlight_logothe 68 Native American veterans who will be going on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC from November 10-13. While there, the veterans will visit the many monuments honoring veterans of all wars.

Please begin your letters (or notes) with “Dear Veteran”, “Dear Hero” or a similar salutation. Drop letters in the collection box at 2719 E. Sawyer Road by Saturday, October 29.

The “Mail Call” letters given to the veterans on their flight home are often cherished by the veterans, many of whom believe their service was not appreciated by their fellow Americans.
